Here's the epic tale, told in quickly shot stills shot by an ancient, battered digicam. Sorry about the quality. This was loading day. Looking purty nice. First in line at the ferry! Woo! Hey, I like this thing. The ferries are faster than I thought. Crammed in.... Bye bye island. Old man and the sea LOL. Pulling into Horseshoe bay, Bowen island in BG, with a smaller ferry and a water taxi. Dock this thang. Vancouver Film Studios! The last we would see of our little car for days. Fraser valley, the Rockies await us... Weigh scales. They pretty much ignored us. Coquihalla snowshed, a tunnel to hopefully keep you from being buried in avalanches. This is also about a 12% grade. The light is failing as we near Kamloops. Blue River, halfway between Horseshoe bay and Edmonton. It snows a lot here. The border and Great Divide. There's lots of animals in Jasper National Park. It's all natural and stuff. Mum and the truck in Hinton. A lot of my stories start at this truck stop. That grey smudge on the horizon is our destination. Everything we own. That night..... |

So after all that - do you feel like doing a fully fleshed out Truck Stop as a set? ![]() The Shots are great, so impressive to see the mountains and the snow. By the look of the weather you go though it on some really good days. Glad that there were no real hiccups and that you all made it safely. Lord Abaddon of Wormwood |

Wow nice and hilly and mountainous scenery, I don't ever see that when I travel... well that is what I get for living in the midwest. |

The unit was a 2006 with only 40000 miles. Yes, that's miles, it was a US truck. It had Km on the speedo but it was hard to read. Normally I have better luck with Ryder trucks but I was sold on this unit when I saw it. Sure drove nice, I had no problems. There were some long uphills and a couple of steep slopes. And we did have a few laughs! Tried like heck to save the houseplants in the cab with us, they all survived! I was worried when it was cold. Jasper park is only about 3 hours drive on a nice divided highway. I want to go skiing again before my body is too wrecked. If I can't have the ocean I can have mountains! |

Some fun was to be had for sure and I love the ocean. Large urban centers is where I belong though. |

Maybe he was worried about the sea level rising ... hey, it could happen. Seems better to head inland in any case. Huge malls are like pyramids commemorating the gods of consumerism. Well, one political-social statement in months seems fair enough. I'm done ... the next blurb should occur around May after I'm done spending. |
