Encountered a relatively old rumor that - anyone else encounter that yet?
I really want FO4 to be in New England. I grew up in Boston, I want to see it in ruins.

Is it just me, or does everybody's interest in the game sort of wane once they get to New Vegas? Tried three times, lost interest at the same point in each one. I had fun in the early game, but by the time I reached Vegas I just felt like smacking heads together - mostly NCR and Brotherhood. They really, really need to sit down at a table and hash things out. Heck! They have a Courier right to hand! There is only one faction willing to use The Courier as a courier, and they're the bad guys! I couldn't care less who is in charge of Vegas, once you know who is doing the two meter daisy push then as far as I am concerned Vegas can rot. Creepy in a can stays in charge? I don't mind. Heck, the only guy I care about there is Hector, and he's a 'bot! Aaaaaarrrrgggghhhh! Some of the game changes I liked, others I didn't like, and some needed a bit more work. The Companion Wheel - kinda gimmicky, but it worked better than what was in FO3. Armor - convenient in FO3, vital in NV. Can make all the difference. Weapon reloads and repairs - pretty much a thumbs up. Weapons degraded too quickly for my tastes, and there was never enough armor piercing ammo. (I am looking at you giant rad scorpions!) Weapons in general seemed less effective. Weapon Mods... why the Hell is there a night-vision scope for the varmint rifle, but not the sniper rifle? Seriously, why? The Auld Grump |

Thread Necromancy Time! Loading up FO:NV again... now that there are enough mods out there to change the game. My question: What Mods? Do I go with FOOK? Project Nevada? (Actually, that is not a question - I have already installed it.) Both? (There is a compatibility project...) A Tale of Two Wastelands? (A damned serious mod - if you have both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas then this mod allows you to run FO3 using the NV engine, and to go from one Wasteland to the other. But it has to be a new character - you can't use your old characters.) So, anyone used any of the above? The Auld Grump, pining for FO4.... |

Project Nevada and Nevada Skies are both excellent.  I.. was completely unprepared for the change in pathing for the Deathclaws at Quarry Junction. What used to be a safe spot... wasn't, anymore.  Still survived, but only because I had Love & Hate - I ended up punching the Alpha Male to death....  (In the older version I would creep up a conveyor, and plink him to death with a varmint rifle. This time he came right up the conveyor.... )I still prefer FO3. I guess that I'm a city boy at heart. The Auld Grump |

A World of Pain... is a great mod - just for somebody that isn't me. Pretty much entirely combat based, lots of new locations - and lots of things to kill in each one. I played it for a while, and then went back to a previous save - I had leveled too many times without accomplishing anything beyond getting a lot of loot. So, it is easier to just go back to an earlier save and get rid of the mod. But if you like lots of combat then it is a great mod. The Auld Grump |
