Post subject: | Generic Sci-Fi Skirmish Game? |
Thanks to T-G & his great find about Warzone and the sale I've dropped some hard earned cash on sci-fi minis. A buddy and I have been debating getting into some 40K as he already has some of the minis. I have no feeling one way or the other on the 'evil' of GW, so it's not out of the question to pick up Assault On Black Reach. So to the gist of this post, is there a generic Sci-Fi skirmish setting? One that would allow me to use the plethora of minis, painted (AT-43 & Star Wars) and unpainted (40K & now Warzone) with minimal effort? A system that's fun, decently quick, and flexible? Perhaps one that is cheap or even free? I ask you the all knowing posters... Thanks in advance. |

Free Sets: It's free and has a force builder so you can look at a model and create it's stats. Haven't tried them but read through them, seem pretty decent. Pay for sets: edited cause i can't spell for sh*t and to add others as I see fit. |

I second No Limits, I enjoy using that rule set and the community is helpful. |

I'll second the Chaos in... series. VERY fun engine. No Limits has a solid core, but missing...I'm not sure really. Something just feels off to me. Still, for free, its solid! |

One from the wayback (anyone remember Grenadier?) Very generic - once upon a time they had rules for using G.I. Joe figures in the game.... You can create your own stats from the bottom up, to fit your minis. Mega Minis has just bought the original miniatures line - think Warhammer 40K in a Post Apocalyptic U.S.A.. Orks come from New Jersey.... ![]() ![]() The Auld Grump |

I tried to stay on topic as I didn't talk about our game but pointed to a set of rules that one can use for any game. Since you asked: Scouts are still on stand by as we are finishing the Chaos Space Marine squad. The squad is lead by one Chaos Space Marine and has his lakeys. If you read 40k Novels you will see what I mean. Once this gets polished Scouts will be able to break out along with Genestealer Cult and Dark Eldar. Either way, check out the rules, they might work for what you are trying to do. The rules are free but you do have to register on the forum to get them. |
