Heresy has finally finished the Dragon (yes, it deserves capitalization) after a bit more than a year of work. *EDIT* Yikes! Make that almost TWO years! I have been paying for it in chunks, fully expecting the price to rise when it is finished. And, sure enough, it will. So, if you want him, now is the time to get him.

Mind you, at a hundred pounds it is quite pricey enough already. (In case you are wondering, the Dragon isn't for me, but for my girlfriend's mom, a joint gift from Jackie and myself. But I will be the one painting it as part of a Hobbit diorama - I think that this figure is closer to Smaug than any I have seen. )

The figure is a rival for Gauth as my favorite Dragon.

Denny you should do something of that scale for Forge!

Forge seems to be primarily for 1:1 scale items. I would imagine that the market for card stock full-scale dragons is rather small

Cool, one of the few miniature dragons that actually look like how I want a dragon to look. But way out of my price range, especially since I don't paint. I like the mcfarlane dragons the best out of anything I've come across.

One of these days I mean to build a forest layout for the hunter one.

This diorama of Gauth (painted by J. A. Hecker) is what I am going to try to keep in mind during what I expect will be a month long modeling and painting job.

And, for the record, the Heresy Dragon is going to be all metal. :surprised:

The Auld Grump, I think that Heresy's Dragon is even bigger than Gauth - and Gauth is huge!

Yeah I'm just going to have to say no. They are asking a ridiculous amount of money. You can get other dragon models out of plastic for fraction of the cost. I could get most of the Todd McFarlane dragons on ebay for that cost. The sculpt is very nice but come on!

If people are looking for plastic cheaper dragon alternatives you can check out McFarlane's dragon series, I bought a bunch of them for between $10 and $20.

That's already covered in the (now buried) Toys as Gaming Figures thread. I have no idea why you couldn't find it, it's only been dead for a little over a year.... (Note to self, need to post in that thread to bring it back to life... not so much necromancy as resuscitation.)

The Heritage Dragon has been in the works for a loonnngggg time, so I thought it worth mentioning, though I am probably the only one here that is getting it, and even I am doing so as a present for my girlfriend's mom, and my girlfriend is footing half the costs. (I think of it as a 'Sorry We Aren't Getting Married' present for her - my girlfriend has no interest in marriage, at all. We have been together, long distance, for a stupidly long time, but no wedding bells are likely in the future.)

@TheAuldGrump. Just so you don't feel lonely, you are not the only here buying this fine model. I've had mine on pre-order for over a year. Oddly enough, I'm not a big fan of fantasy gaming, but this is such an awesome model that I had to have it. I can afford it, so I thought, why not order it? I'll be keeping it for myself, although when I get round to making it and painting it is another matter! Oh, and congrats on your first post on the Forum of Doom!

If I knew a painter that would do a fantastic job I would grab this with two hands... because it's heavy.


Of course Grump you now actually have to post the unboxing pictures once it arrives - no excuses or we, your fellow mods just might have to take drastic actions.

Believe it or not I have actually been playing with my camera - learning it's quirks and limitations.

Molly (she of the camera that I envy , and not to be confused with The Mighty Molly Gallagher), has left the area*, so I have to play with my own pictures if I am going to be doing any photo editing at all. (I actually like photo editing better than taking photos.) Doing some logos for a GW magazine I am doing some stuff for -

* Molly has been working with a local bank since she left the nonprofit that we both used to work for. Since the real estate crash she has had advancement at the bank pretty much stop, so a few weeks ago she:
Left her job at the bank (where she was earning a huge amount of money, advancement blocked or not)
Broken up with her girlfriend (who thought that she was crazy to leave her job at the bank)
Enrolled in College on The Other Coast, to go for her Masters
Moved out to the Other Coast to go to college
And when she gets her Masters is going back into Social Services, where she will earn less than half what she made at the bank.

Her girlfriend may think that Molly has gone crazy, but I think that she is finding her sanity again. She hated working at the bank.

Quick!!! Someone go check the therostat in Hell, because something tells me it might be broken.

Heresy has been hit hard - down to one or two people. The owner has stated that if he had realized what an ordeal making this dragon would be then he would have skipped it.

Great dragon, but it stretched the capacity of Heresy Miniatures past the breaking point.

Heresy makes some of the nastiest ghouls that I have seen, some great (*cough*House Delaque*cough, cough) gangers, and one of my all time favorite ogres (lovingly known as 'Nutter').

Right now they have a 20% off sale - even on already discounted miniatures. Proceeds will help pay for a larger casting machine. (Like, you know, that Dragon. )

If I weren't still pinched by the Bones Kickstarter I would be sending in an order right now. The ghouls and the Blights in particular, and one or two more gangers.

They've done a nice job on Thrud. It's been a while since he last appeared, but he's looking as ... Thrud! ... as ever.

You will not tempt me with more miniatures! Although I did go to the Heresy site to see how much the Trenchcoat minis were. Pretty sweet.

I use the Trenchcoat Gang for one of the gangs in my Florida Fallout game - the Skins. Great figures, and the best part is because I only use them for that one gang the players have an instant reaction - when the lead hits the table more lead starts flyin'.

A bunch of racist neo-Nazis, used by both the Enclave and the Kreigers as expendable cannon fodder.

I arm the unit by rolling on the Bag Full of Guns table in Spycraft 2.0.

I suppose that I could use them as House Delaque in Necromunda, as well - but my gangs of choice lean more toward the fringes of religious fanaticism.

Just got word that my dragon is the next up for casting! Considering that I originally ordered this for Jackie's mom's 70th, and have long since given her the same diorama with Gauth as Smaug... it's going to be mine I tell you! All mine!

Wow, took a lot longer than planned....

Going back to your original posted pics, it seems Gauth is the perfect size in relation to the Skyrim Dagons. Unless Skyrim is made to conform to 'industry standards'? (Yeah, I know - there are different sizes of Dragons... I don't play Skyrim, but my best friends does it all-the-time.)

My poor dragon - his pieces just keep getting smaller and smaller....



They are cutting the master into smaller pieces for spin casting.
