Let me be the first on this forum to go 'ooooohhhh!' ![]() Dystopian Wars - Steampunk warfare on land, sea, and in the air; from . My only complaint, aside from a general clunkiness of design, is that the Americans would lose every battle due to their exposed motive means. The Auld Grump |

Yea this is very "meh" to me. The american's really got screwed on the designs. EVRYTHING has a paddlewheel?? And the american's don't have a flying carrier? (and if you go to the website, the carrier taken apart is to show the lower level, not that it flies) The only force that even looks remotely cool is the Prussians. <edit> The japanese look like they are trains on the water. I mean come on... </edit> I'll wait for the rules and land ships that I've seen pictures of. I do hope they include those. |

I was all set to defend it and call you all nasty names but realised the more I look at the photos, the less I want them. People at TMP (this terminal won't let me post there) keep saying it's too Gothic or too Steampunk. I don't see enough of either. The British seem to be designed the same way as some very high end metal dreadnought toys made by Bing and Carrette early last century. (caution: do no overtake overturning vehicle.) http://www.vintagecollectables.com/imag ... d_ship.JPG Might I suggest, if someone buys the game, try some of these instead? http://www.oldgloryuk.com/disp_items.php?c=379 r a little smaller: http://www.greatendeavours.co.uk/ships/ |

I'm actually more interested in their upcoming 6mm Sci-Fi game....... http://twitpic.com/2cg8cz http://twitpic.com/2cg7hf http://twitpic.com/2bvxme http://twitpic.com/2bvxfw http://twitpic.com/2bw2w2 I think Baccus did some very nice 6mm Sci-Fi stuff that could also be used.... ...... anyhoo, lets see what the rules are like. VSF isn't really my thang, but if the game is decent enuff I may get tempted. |

Heh - I have been enjoying Steampunk since before the phrase was coined. ![]() Dystopian Wars is due out November 24th. Preorders are at Total Warfare in the UK I think that I favor British and Prussian fleets, followed by the Empire of the Blazing Sun. The American ships... just do not appeal to me. I would have preferred something more akin to the Monitor. There were some later ships of the Monitor class and its sisters that would have been pretty steampunkish, or maybe the Humber class.
