So I won some more 15mm K'kree on E-bay. It has become a bit of an obsession of mine, I have been collecting them since 1987 and have now managed to acquire 29 of the little models. So far, I have been painting them all similarly as one big unit for wargaming, but with my latest models, I realize that I can paint up the new ones as a player character family. And the previous ones could easily be split into two separate families, which in effect gives me a K'kree adventurer party, a merchant or scientific character and a couple of military escorts. So this is pretty excitingg for me. And I have had a good nine months to rethink the cardstock K'kree air/raft that I built, and have come up with some improvements for the v2.0 model. OK, bedtime for Bonzo... |

That's great. I've always wondered how it would actually go role-playing a group of K'kree characters. Sadly I moved away from the last group that might have been interested enough to try it over 20 years ago. The K'kree were, and still are, one of the more interesting sci-fi races. Iain M Bank's latest sci-fi novel "Surface Detail" includes a great portrayal of a race that is clearly the K'kree with a couple of minor changes (it's a good read, too). |

Playing a K'kree character is a hoot! But when playing in a party of otherwise "individual" PCs, it gets a little overbearing. My character outnumbered the other characters 4:1, and just keeping track of the 17 separate components of my character made things difficult. Of course, I had to detail every component with an individual personality and starnge quirks, so it was a bit crazy. My current dilemma is whether I want to redo the bases on my K'kree. They are currently done in dirtied grey, but I think that brown with flock patches might look better... |
