Ok - I know this is a little of topic but I have been looking at WoW and seeing how it ticks. Mores to the point if it makes me tick. I think it could. ....but I would like to hear what those of this board think of the game. One of my main reservitations about getting and playing it is the up-keep. Yes I believe in TV that you don't have to pay for and I also believe in games that once you buy them you can play them to your hearts content without having to spend another cent. ....but this WoW! I love all the games that have lead to this point, and I truly believe that if Denny had the resources and the rights, crafting cardstock buildings and areas from the world of Warcraft would be the best thing since sliced bread. I have never played a MMORPG - even though as a youth I dreamed that this style of on-line play would come about. I have very little idea about what makes a MMORPG tick (excpt hard earned cash ![]() So can I get some help - constructive help? Lord Abaddon of Wormwood NightElf I think - Druid |

I played Asherons Call for nearly 3 years. And I've also played Dark Ages(6mnths) of Camelot and Anarchy Online(6mnths). A friend of mine (over this past weekend) brought over his laptop so I could experience WOW. And I have to say " W O W " it's really, really beautiful, detailed and looks pretty darn fun. It seems to have taken alot of what makes MMORPGs fun and good and built the amazingly rich and detailed Warcraft world around it. I don't mind paying a monthly fee when I have friends I can get together with and explore the vast depths of this world. Instant Dungeons, interesting Quests that help introduce you to the world and its history, a multidtude of trade skills(that are actually usefull) and a whole host of other touches that make this a very appealing choice in a (starting to be) crowded Genre. (I don't have hours and hours on end to spend in games like this. So for me the instant dungeons and assorted quests will allow me to get on and actually accomplish something each time) There area nice assortment of races. All very unique. And with 10slots with which to make characters in I am looking forward to trying out alot of different combinations... -Floyd (This will either be a Christmas or right after christmas gift to my son. Whom is a MMORPG junkie...I actually have to give him timelimits for this...) |

As a player of WOW since two weeks before it came out, here are some of my thoughts. It actually saves me money. Here is why, I am always playing some sort of computer game, and in bad release months I will buy a marginal game just to have something to play. So $15 a month is much better than $50 a month. WOW is well done and it takes into account the "casual" player much better than others of the MMORGs out there. I do not have 80-100 hours a week that some have to play and some other games have designed around that player. The servers have gotten to the point that the game is very stable (the first week was difficult to say the least). About a week and a half ago I did one of the best implemented dungeon crawls I have seen in a MMORG or a stand alone game. The best part I made some new online friends in the process. I like the race war aspect and the defence of towns is interesting. I play on a PVP server and in general the community has been for the most part "good" PVPers. I have yet to be griefed/corpse camped and other problems that can occur on a PVP server. If you do play you are welcome to look me up. My character's name is Aristina on the Arthas server. I am usually on after 8:30PM EST. --Chris |

Hmmm, White Wolf has announced a World of Warcraft tabletop RPG. It sounds good, except for the magic system... they are trying to palm off a Dungeons & Dragons spell slot system as a good simulation of a magic point/mana system. Why not just do a magic point/mana system? There are D20/Ogle systems that do... http://download.white-wolf.com/download ... ile_id=340 Otherwise it looks good. The Auld Grump |

Grump - the sad fact is they didn't get it right the first time, I have the current core book and it's very lacking. The other sad fact is I will most likly pick-up the new book. The new book has taken lots from Monte Cook's work, yes the spell slots system too. Hopfully moonwells will replenish the slots or something to that effect. Lord Abaddon of Wormwood |

Ive been dying to play this game since the first rumors of it even being created came out. Sad reality is, I dont have the cash to get a computer that can actually run the game.... seems that with each new game, system requirements jump another notch *not to mention pricetags for said requirements* Perhaps thats why I love table-top gaming so much..... ![]() |

I've got an ancient : 933mhz P3 GForce 3 card(64mb) 768megs of Ram 15free gigs on my 40gig HD. And the game runs fine. Most of the effects are on, the visual range and detail are turned down a bit, but it's beautiful. The only area that gives my machine trouble is LagFor- er IronForge(near the center the lava cycling makes my machine start caching and brings the fun to a pausy stop-motion jitter). |
