| Post subject: | I hate Steam and Games for Windows |
I just need to blow off steam! So I got Fallout New Vegas for Games for Windows and I can't play it because Steams servers are too busy. WTF! It is a single player game. I should not be required to even have an internet connection to play a single player game! The same goes for Games for Windows. If my internet goes out for some reason I can not play any of my saved games 
I blame Xbox and the rest of console games. They really have dumbed down computer gaming for the rest of us PC gamers. |

It seems like everything is migrating to requiring an internet connection of some sort anymore whether it is a hard wire or wifi or 3g or 4g or whatever way someone can come up with to squeeze more out of the consumer.

Was going to log in an get Darksider & Mass Effect 2 which I bought on the sales the other night... might wait a tad. I don't like the fact that the connection is need to play the games on your harddrive - I understand the reasons (mainly to stop pirated copies) but Steam should go into a oofline mode when connection cannot be made. Oh and other than Assiassins Creed console games do suck (yes I know that Darksiders is primary a gamepad game but $9.95... even if I delete it after one game I am almost still ahead). Steam DOES have an offline mode. Games for Windows Live on the other hand... I love Steam.

Yep, steam has an offline mode. And I make good use of it. But I feel for you. I hate it when any app is unavailable that just pisses me off to no end. Even internet ones. If I payed you good money for it, it sure better work. |

Yet another reason to hate Games for Windows it has no SteamCloud type option, so your saved games are lost if you reformat without backing up...or change computers. ARGH! Have not played Street Fighter IV in a year and realized I'm starting from scratch. |
