Ok…at one point in time, someone requested that I provide an advance list of things you’ll need to build for Missing Persons so you can get a start on your construction. As promised, here is the list.

It’s not guaranteed to have *everything* on it, it’s subject to possible revision yet, and it obviously does not include numerous pieces that come with the module…but it should give you a good, solid head start. Also note that it assumes you re-use elements that are easily portable.

From DungeonWorks Gothic:

At least 20 Plain Dungeon Floor tiles. 12 of these can be combined together into a “standard” masterboard layout, and the optional trim (if desired) can be added to that board.
5 Yellow pool tiles.
36 7” walls, 5 6” walls, 24 3” walls, 10 4” walls, 9 2” walls, 1 1” wall.
11 “Crypt Walls”…the long chunky-like wall with three inset burial nitches.
2 long corridors, 3 short corridors, 1 corner, 1 crossroads
6 sarcophagi with lids
1 saw trap, 3 spike traps, 1 ramp and blades trap
10 wooden doors, 1 stone door, 5 small pillars
7 Yellow bridges, 6 Yellow straight sewer sections, 2 Yellow corner sewer sections, 3 Yellow sewer outlets.


From DungeonWorks Classic, Chunky Dungeons, or Mini-Chunk:
14 beds, 1 table, 8 chairs, 1 bookcase, 2 chests, 4 torture racks, 1 torture pillar, 1 weapon rack, 1 “pile of treasure” tile, 9 plain wooden doors and a spiked pit tile.

If you have one of the “Chunky” sets, you’ll need to wait for the module for the wooden door and spiked pit tiles, but as an added bonus, you have a different style of torture rack you can include. To make up the 4 you need, feel free to mix and match between the two types.

Ok…so get busy! You’ve a lot to do, and the time is starting to tick down.

The standees are pretty cool. I've always like that style of figure even though they take extra build time. I wish they were a seperate release as I won't be purchasing the modules.

Hm...new preview pics broken now or have the new-new ones not been put up to replace the old-new ones?

All of the preview pics are working fine on this end. I'm not sure what could be the cause of the problem you're having viewing them.

I'm sorry to say that there are no plans at this time for releasing the models, or the standees, as a separate item.

Yup, the last 3 still wont load up. Maybe they are still working for you because they are still in your browser cache? I tried opening the pics in their own window and they come up with a can't find server error.

It's not a caching issue...the site comes up just fine on this end. I wonder if you're just having a problem connecting between you and the server I have the previews hosted on.

Anyways...new previews coming up later this week...Alberto's nearly finished up the artwork, so he's turned his far more expert hand than mine towards generating some previews.

Pity that the models won't ever be split out from the modules as separate items, but I understand the marketing need. If one aspect of a set doesn't appeal to a customer, perhaps another portion will, thus generating a sale.

I will never use the module contents myself - on those rare occasions I get to play I just never run pre-generated adventures - but would like to have the models. Can't justify parting with the dollars just to get the models though, so the adventure line is off-limits to me.

But I do like to see what y'all cook up anyway.

I'd suggest you take a look at what all is in the product first before you decide for sure it's not worth it "just" for the models...but it's ultimately your call. There's a lot of other great modelsets here to play with.

For the longest time, I kept clear of pre-made modules myself, then I started realizing that even if I don't use them verbatim, they're a great source to mine for inspiration. A map, an NPC, an inn, a shop...even just a particularly clever and interesting encounter.

Definately come take a good long look once it's "on the shelves".

Well . . . crap! This set has WAY more models than I expected. The figure flats don't interest me, nor does the module itself, but that's a LOT of models, and they expand on the Gothic set too.

I may just rethink that "pass" on modules position of mine. Thanks Andorax!

The model additions (including standees) that came from the module "Something Below" came to 17 pages of additional models (with four of those being standees). This meant 13 new pages of tiles and props that make "CaveWorks" seem much more complete. I would have never regretted paying for the set as a whole with that many additions, but that's just me. Can't wait to see what all is included in this newest release.

Double crap!

I haven't seen a list of what the models were for SB. I checked the forums and found just a few pics. A lift and a few mine pieces. No indication anywhere of how many actual new models (or figure flats for that matter).

Easier to resist what I don't know I'm missing

The "ad" for MP actually states what's in it; number of models, figures, pages of adventure, etc. There was enough there for Gothic that I was going to weaken and get it.

Now it looks like I've got to cave in (sorry, couldn't resist) and get SB as well.

My eyes thank you WWG . . . my wallet does not! And all because Shatteredragon has it in in for me and is trying to ruin my life, and force me to buy every single module.

Well . . . I'm NOT getting Siegeworks, and that's FINAL!

P.S. Seriously WWG, you should think about redoing your animation for SB to include stuff like the photos just posted for MP. If there had been more details of the actual models in the ad I would have already purchased SB.

Hmm, let me see if I can clarify what is included in the way of models and standees.

1: Darkwater Tile.
2: Watershaft, short and long, with tile for upper floors (this one will make a great full sized waterfall later, if I don't turn them into shafts, next project).
3: Shaft & Pit tiles.
4: 4 & 3 way rail crossing tiles.
5: Six new caveworks riser props varying in size from 1/2x1x1 inch too 1x2x2 inch.
6: A variety of oddly shaped caveworks riser props, similiar in size to #5, as well as three types of rock or stone piles.
7: 5 mine support beams, fills the page.
8: New minecart, and Stone Crypt (Vault).
9, 10, 11: The lift, not including chains.
12: Mine entrance with a variety of crossed wooden boards in two patterns for blocking off passages, would work great if used with the modern sets to depict a closed off, boarded up building.
13: Chains for the lift.
14: 10 villian standees (two groups of four generic, and two main badguys).
15: 9 villian standees (one group of four, two groups of two, and another main badguy).
16: Main page of villian standees, three in total (The skeletal worm in multiple parts, a winged badguy with separate wings, and a little winged critter).
17: Hero & NPC standees (nine in total, all different, as well as a little thing that I'm not sure what it is yet, might even be a hero or npc, lol, so technically ten in total).

A minor additional, the beams from the lift prop can be used for so many different things that they alone made this set worthwile for myself .

Allright, allright, I'll buy the damned thing. Geez.

I started down the WW trail with the old DungeonWorks. Naturally, I had to get CastleWorks to go with it. Nuff said. Two sets, happy camper. Done.

But no, there was this cool Gothic set, so it became a trio.

Dungeons and Castles got reworked, and naturally I had to get those. But at least that was nearly a clean sweep of the fantasy stuff. I knew I'd never need VillageWorks, so that was really easy to . . . what was that? Well, yes, I do know of a set that has ground tiles and rivers. Sigh.

Fully resisting Arena and Siege though. Caved in to the caverns, so the Fantasy score is 2 (resisted) to 7 (purchased).

Of course, in Modern it's 0 to 4 (yes, 4! I found somebody with a spare Rezolution CD because I just had to have it). In Sci-Fi it's also 0 to 4 (if you count Platform Commander).

I even broke down and got the InteriorWorks sets (both of them) and the Encounter set (damned interchangable portal kitbash). So what does that make it . . . 2 resisted to 18 purchased?

Oh, forgot, there is that adventure module I can live without, and another in the pipeline. BUT WAIT! Now there are just too fricking many cool models in those sets to resist them any longer. I'll be buying Something Below in just a few moments, and Missing Persons when it comes out.

Just thought of one more set I can place into the resist column: HarborMaster. I can safely say, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that there is nothing about HarborMaster OR Siege that calls to me. I'm firmly turning my back on those two.

But Arena really does look cool. I have no use for it . . . but . . . my resolve may erode. Man, does my Cardstock Willpower Save suck or what!?

Well, they work now. Very nice. Very nice indeed. Like so many others, I'd buy all the props even if I had no interest in the adventure. However, now that I've seen what it comes with, I'm much more interested in the adventure itself. Guess I'll need this and its prequel.

Heh, I have to say, when it comes to SiegeWorks it's a questionable gaming set, much more fun as a building set. It is rare for games to go into a siege setting (except for Wargaming), and even then, the biggest used pieces would most likely be the siege tower, battering rams, tents, and props. Most of the actual siege weapons would never even be seen in a fight as they would be safely behind the combat front lines. In the case of a defensive castle one or two of the larger ones might be placed on the walls or towers, depending on how much of the castle you actually have built for the game. As for ArenaWorks...just look at my pictures and you'll see it's a heavily used set for my builds. Most of the stone like blocks and short spina walls make great ruin pieces, as well as being useable for kitbashes into a variety of temple structures. As a set I find ArenaWorks makes a great city filler, it has many new small buidings, great for the slumier areas of cities and towns, as well as many new props and textures to play with. While it is interesting to note that I am likely to never build the risers, let alone a full sized arena, I will be kitbashing this set in the extreme when I start the second phase of my CWU buildings build. This is one set that has tonnes of uses for me...just not as it was originally intended, lol.

Btw Andorax, very sorry for stealing your post for a way off topic discussion, forgot where I was posting for a moment there, now back to your regularily scheduled Missing Persons topic.

Steve, you'll find that the modules are so chock-full of models that they really do stand as full-blown expansions to the base sets!

Bob's done a fantastic job with the Missing Persons models - try it, you'l llike it!

Resistance was futile. I will be getting both modules now. What I need is for the good folks at WWG to sloooooooooowwwwwwww down some. My wallet can't take this much longer. I think all existing projects should start back at square one, and be totally redone (except for the ones I want right now).

No problem Aubrey, I would have accepted the position of forum moderator back when Denny asked for the help, if I had felt it was needed and I had the time, which I now have in spades, though with the peaceful, helpful coexistence of members of these forums, Robby is doing well eneogh on his own, even with johnnygs gone, and Phatz delegated to Avatar making.

I've always liked helping people, or doing what I can to make things easier for others, it's in my nature. It is also one of the reasons I end up answering questions, or helping people even if I don't know the answer, suggesting ideas that may help, or pointing out that the question wasn't being ignored (due to lack of response), just that the right people weren't available in the moment to answer the question.

You can always count on me to be an unofficial greeter, and helper to those new to the craft or just looking for some help, I got your backs when I can .
