Yeah, doing that length of rope with transparencies woudl be rather crazy.

It's good ol' cardstock! The only issue I have with the piece is how to store it. :wink:

Actually, I just used a binder clip and hung it in a corner.

There's a nice, easy tip in there for how to make rope sections connect and look like one, interconnected piece.

Either way, I stand by my statement that you'd have to be *crazy* not to simply use a piece of string. If that description fits the WWG designer in question, so be it!

I think cardstock rope is pushing the cardstock modelling thing a little bit. Sure, it can be done, but...

Ayuh, good old twine, painted to look like rope, is what I would use in this instance.

This set does not have the same 'grab' for me as Missing Persons, I already have more than my fair share of hills (insulation foam, cut with a hot knife, painted and flocked), one of the side effects of being a wargamer. Though the ferry does look fairly cool. (I might suggest to folks that have Skull Cove that they substitute some of the boats for the rafts shown here - it means having a ferryman on the boat to onhook from the tow cable, but....)

Ah well, wait and see....

Yep, I'm looking forward to this one - even if my gaming group will probably take another year to finish their current campaign and start again with a new set of characters. :shock:

This might even be one of the first adventures my kids play

In the meanwhile, the terrain and VillageWorks extensions look handy, not to mention that donkey standee - he could be doing a lot of work over the next year that guy.

I can definitely see uses for the mill race in the Iron Kingdoms, very... early industrial. It is too bad that it is unlikely that there will be any interiors of the mill workings. Battles among giant revolving gears, conveyors, chains, and crushing millstones can be so much fun.

Well, it lacks for interiors, but I have to tell you guys what an awesome 3D environment the outside of the mills is. I'm the one who actually BUILT the dang thing, and it's really pretty amazing to try moving models around it and figuring out all the best strategies and approaches (do you dare risk the long jump over the central waterway?)

Yes, it does look like a fun environment for battles. Cover for archers, good avenues of fire...

A fun setting for a chase scene or two as well, or a combination chase/combat - bad guy running, henchmen covering his escape with missile fire, a hand to hand grunt or three on some of the stairs and bridges. And a final battle at the top of the structure. (Possibly ending with the villain casting himself into the raging torrent rather than facing capture....)

Well, the WIP meter says 98%... :wink:

I just need to do the instructions for the Millrace, and there's one more model that needs to be made. A couple other small things, and it'll be showtime!

Heh, that's not the answer to the question I asked :twisted:

You may have only 2% to go, but how many weeks do you reckon it'll be before it goes gold.

Also, while I'm here, will the module feature any buildings with interiors ? That Mill Trace would be even more awesome if the roofs came off to reveal machinery and store rooms !!

Keep in mind that the models are an expansion for VW, and thus use much the same aesthetic and design.

Interiors would make an awfully cool kitbash, though! :wink:

Then again, a windmill plus interior would make for a really cool Himmelveil set. And should be easily adaptable for a watermill...

It looks much more like the texture from the Blacksmith's House in VillageWorks to me.

Great re-use. I can't wait to see the module (I will definitely build this - one day).

The mills are from the blacksmith (medium stone building) from VW. The sides of the millrace water channels are, indeed, Chunky.

Absolutley! That's how we do our modules around here. Everything you'll need to run the adventure will be there.

Those standees are the clincher for me. I'm not much of a mini painter so having standees of everything in the adventure is a huge bonus for me.

My kids (6 and 8 ) had their first game of D&D this weekend (Yeah, Now I have my own set of BIGs), and Dinas Ffordd is looking like being their first module. Playing with scenery and minis/standees should remove a lot of misunderstandings in teh diffiuclt bits and let them focus on enjoying the game and getting used to the rules.
