So...what, if anything, is the plan for this Saturday? I am trying to figure out if I have a conflict in the afternoon or not, but I was wondering what everyone else's day was like. Even if I do have a conflict, i could likely still play later in the afternoon (free after around 2:30). If we do play, I could handle more board games, but I would like to maybe try for some sort of role playing. I would be up for some sort of one shot, even trying out something different. Any opinions? If we do board games, we should set some time aside to figure out the plan for future games. |

Maybe it is a bit of the macabre mood that comes with the return of work, maybe it is just the result of having watched Drive, Usual Suspects, and Reservoir Dogs between the last few episodes of Tabletop...but part of me would get a kick out of trying the Fiasco rpg. I even looked through the different playsets they have online, with the Dragon Slayers and White Hole senerios seeming rather interesting. I'd be good with other options as well. |

Fiasco looks like a ton of fun. Did you pick it up? I haven't looked at it in any capacity other than watching both Table Top episodes. Jennifer seemed to enjoy the episodes too. |

I managed to look through the core rule book. There really isn't anything more in there than what Table Top showed, as far as details on how to/what you would need to play. A couple of tables (Tilt and Aftermath) are the main things, but the Table top gave all the essential "rules". The games more about getting use to the idea of the game (creating an epic Fiasco) than any set of rules. |

Tomorrow at noon (or whenever you can make it). I would rather do something that doesn't require me to prep tonight/in the morning due to stressing about school starting Monday. Other than that, I am up for whatever. |

We get together on every other Saturday (give or take) for board games, or D&D if that ever starts up again. Maybe we can time one soon at the FLGS up the street so you can join us and we can all make sure that nobody else is a serial killer. |

I had hope that it would be delivered today, but the tracking info hasn't changed today. I guess Monday will have to do. I wanted to try and mess with it this weekend before everyone delved into it, but we will just have to figure it out together. I think that the rules might be available online (maybe just to backers, but still). In that case I might be able to fit a little time in for studying rules. |

I'm in. If you want to keep playing, I'd be happy to continue on with the storyline from last time. Characters can of course be swapped around as needed, and anyone would be free to personalize their PC. Level 5 seemed to work nicely last time, and I think there are still penty of options left to explore. |

So, any plans for this weekend? I could use some imagination based violance. I'm open this Saturday, but next weekend (17th) is out. I did download the latest D&D Next update, but I haven't really looked at it. Same goes for the kickstarter pdfs. |

Liam is out, but I put together a decent sized group. Most of which plans to show late afternoon/early evening for board games. Up to you guys for what time you want to make it and if you want to participate in the shenanigans.

So assuming I go ahead and run the superhero's themed one shot/short game based on the M&M system to give it a try, I figure it would be good to set up some ground work. Since part of this is to explore the rules and have fun in a new setting, I would like to avoid doing pre-generated characters. The http://www.D20herosrp.com site has all the rules needed for the most, but it might also be good to discuss what people would like to play. That would help with balancing the overall group, but it would also help with setting up the one shot to know what people are interested in playing. Hopefully then I can set up some opportunities to show of powers or highlight any interesting character traits/backgrounds people have in mind. As a broad set up, I'm thinking more of a 1930s to maybe 1960s setting than current modern world if that works for everyone else. I'm happy to do modern world if people like that better, but I personally do not think internet access and ipads add much to the hero and adventure themes I'm hoping for. So instead think about the recent Captain America movie, parts of Hellboy, the Flashbacks in Watchman, or maybe even X men:First Class and such. The Rocketeer or League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, though set earlier, also have about the right feel. If there is a desire for more modern themes (high tech computers and such) speak up. As far as Power Level, I'm right now thinking 10. That should let us explore the rules, have some cool powers, but also keep things in a realm where we can still see how things might work in other settings. For a plot, I'm playing around with a concept based on the title of "The Rise of the Yellow King". Details will depend a lot on the strengths/descriptions/concepts of the PCs, but it should include aspects of investigation, ancient evils, fighting hybrids of elder evils and contemporary armies as minions, and of course...saving the world. Within that concept, a 1930-40's setting would involve more war/battlefield aspects while a 60s or so setting might move more into the spy genre. Either way, all PCs concepts would need to be able to work within a team and while not necessarily having to be working directly for the American Government, they would at least need to be able to accept an temporary commission or work in tangent with the US Authorities. Let me know what you think. |
