I guess the best approach - both artistically and commercially - would be a generic "Pulp Technology" set which could be used for anthing from Nautilus style submarines, to Sky Captain atWoT style airships, to Flash Gordon style rocket ships.

I would like such a thing, but the problem I have with doing it in cardstock is the same as scratching it- all those domes and compound curves. Yes card will form the curves, but holding them is another thing.
