Looks like a good idea! I've been weighing the Masterboard options for some time now. I don't want to start gluing things to my tiles if I find out it won't work well down the road. I've spent too much time and energy on my Chunky Dungeons to have it all get ripped apart. I may have to try your felt idea out...maybe make a few tiles to see how it works with the small pieces and being bumped around.

Thats what I did: tried it out on a few extra tiles I had laying around. Let me know if it works out for you. I was pretty psyched about it myself. Time is the second issue. I did my UM tiles in about 15 minutes.

Nonskid material would be a nice alternative as well. I went with the felt because of cost and actual weight. The groovy thing about using the larger green felt underneath is that I can switch to an outdoor setting by removing any tiles and throwing down some trees and hills. Plus I can use different colored felts for this purpose.
Its really become the perfect solution for my gaming needs.

Friend of mine and I have been considering going a similar direction with felt and velcro hooks. You would have a large piece of felt that you attach to the table, clips of some kind to keep the felt in place, then you put the tiles down with the velcro attached as normal.

Since you're going velcro on felt, it comes apart much easier than velcro to velcro. But I'm going to have to look into the felt on felt.

Nice thing about using felt, you get a piece that's black for dungeons, a piece that's green or brown for outside areas on land and one that's blue for water/sky areas.

I'll have to get busy and put some pieces on my stuff.
