Relax guys, he posted ONE pic and now everyone is saying he's scrapped everything else. I'll be the first to admit that WWG has some timeliness isssues but I think y'all are jumping the gun a bit.

I hate to be repetitive but
In Denny's defence, I don't think some of you guys appreciate how much effort really goes into this stuff and how time consuming it is. Now if we could clone Denny somehow...

After how many years of seeing nothing but Fantasy Card*, I am so elated to see something different.
I am glad FirstLight, Urban Mayhem & Rezolution are making the news lately.
Gives us whom do play other games besides the fantasy genre stuff reason to get even more exicted.
-Floyd
* And the Fantasy Sets kick butt! And I too am looking forward to Himel.

I know what you mean Johnnygs, I really like what I'm seeing here, but have little or no use of it at this time. I can't wait to see what this set will look like in the end, and it's on my purchase radar for the future, but I too would really like to see some advancement in the Himmelviel series, oh well, us experienced forum members (just realized I passed 200 posts, and made it into the top ten posters ) are quite used to this, I just hope Himmelviel doesn't go the route of Hovels & Homes Interiorworks .
It seems we have been taken over by the Modern enthusiasts ! |
Sorry guys. I'm only one man and I've made a commitment to working on UrbanMayhem. As I said in another post, I have no intention of walking away from fantasy and in fact I look forward to getting into Himmelveil. I plan on jumping around to all genres but right now I知 giving modern the same respect and dedication I have given to previous genres.
The first release for Himmelveil has been planned and plotted. I have a model designer working on it who has credits to his name such as Myst III so I知 sure you wont be disappointed. Unfortunately there are contractual negotiations hampering forward movement there. WorldWorks needs to grow in order to meet all of our fans demands and unavoidably these kinds of things take time.
I know that release schedules are always an issue here but I知 asking you to remember that we are an extremely small business with a lot of work on our plates. It痴 not just the design of the models that the designer has to deal with (which in and of itself is a gargantuan task) but detailed instructions, photography and masses of general promotion. We are not some juggernaut company like WOTC with dozens of staff members and frankly I知 amazed we can (with some consistency) push out a release every month at the quality we are working at. Not to complain but at great personal sacrifice (just ask my wife) I am working 12 hour days, 7 days a week because I feel an obligation to you guys to get things out the door and at the level of professionalism you expect.
I知 begging for a little patience here. Good things are coming.

Yes, Shatterdragon, some of us have been around almost since the original CastleWorks and have seen a lot of water pass under the bridge around here. I too hope Himmelveil won't become another discarded idea. I reallly had wanted Hovels & Homes Interiorworks. Llke you I have no use for the modern stuff. I haven't bought Spaceworks either, probably won't. I have everything else (except Seigeworks too) and am a staunch WWG support. I mouth off in the forums sometimes, but that's because I feel so passionately about this.
Let's hang in there and keep hoping! CWU was finally released after over 14 or 16 months of "it's just around the corner" and "we'll release it next week." Good things come to those who wait ... and wait ... and wait ...

I love everything that WWG as produced so far - I truly believe that Denny has every intention of doing CityWorks but he has to increase his target audiance first. Also look at the learning curves he has been on in the past 12 months.
Denny is Leveling fast!!!
Look folk we are putting undue stress on the man that has hardly any hair as it is, so slow down take a deep breath and think on the cool props we are all going to have by the end of the year.
I have no need of either First Light or Modern at the monment but I will buy each of them for the sake of having the set for when I need them but also I buy them for there coolness and the art that they bring. I have been thinking that I should print and mount some uncut CW:U building walls and frame them, think about it...... very cool art work indeed. Or print onto transperanceies and back with trendy paper then frame. Just like cells from cartoons
I cannot wait for any of the building releases and am very hopful that the standees will come sooner than later... but in this game everything takes time.
Peace.

Erm, not to be a dick but... aren't those streets kinda... narrow? I mean they look beautiful it's just, I'm trying to imagine cars travelling along them relative to the size of the figures....

The streets look in relation to the rest of the set and the minis in scale. Remember that its not a main strip or a highway but a street in an built up area. Hope we will see roundabouts that we can foamboard.
Oh btw Dead Sexy set up Denny!

lol...you're not a "dick". Just remember that these are HeroClix figures in frame with 1.5-inch bases and visually they throw off the scale a bit. Try to picture them without bases and the scale doesn稚 seem so disproportionate. These are narrow inner city streets after all and in the end some compromise needed to be made to standardize the tiles and make them fit on an 8.5" by 11" page. You'll understand what I'm talking about when more is revealed about the set. Not 100% true to life but close enough for what most players will be using the set for.
Perhaps a future expansion could feature wide freeway tiles (like Matrix Reloaded). Although I知 not sure how many people would be keen on building a massive freeway system on their cramped gaming table.

Wow, this set is looking pretty damn promising! Seeing heroclix minis on there is getting me gunning for it's realease even more!!
Denny is right about the road size vs. clix bases issue, I scratch built a board for my heroclix a couple of months back with 6 in. wide streets (looks about the same as here) and the bases dwarf the streets somewhat. They looked perfectly normal with 1in. based minis and some car miniatures I had.

Perhaps it's time to get someone who could handle all the promotions and movies and stuff.... that way the artists can concentrate on art....
Just an idea...

Damn Denny .....that looks sooooo freakin' good ....I've been holding out on running a Modern campaign, and now I'm looking forward to it!!!!!
I'm anxiously (read: giddy as a schoolgirl) awaiting Himmelveil like so many of the community members, but I can definitely understand Denny's intentions of working on different genres so I won't complain. After all, it's very important for us, the buyers/fans, that WWG grows as a company, and she has to grow in all directions (not just the fantasy genre). Especially when you can clearly see that Denny's (and Paul's....can't forget Paul!!!!) vision of paper modelling shines so spectacularly in both castle dungeons and metropolitan streets!!
So again: Excellent work guys, keep it up, looking forward to all WWG puts out.....and get that darn online store up & running!!!!!!!!

Hmmm, looks like one of the future sets may have to cover vehicles, those streets look pretty baren withouth them.

Wow Denny
You have already topped your efforts from CWU. Which was/is an amazing set. I knew you would but I cannot believe how quickly you have upped the ante. Damn! I cannot wait to see this release in its entirety.
And I can only imagine what will come with Rezolution and a little further down the path, Himmel.
I don't think anything has rekindled my desire for mini gaming and even RPG'ing like the stuff WWG's has been putting out. This is "soooo" the shot in the arm these Genres needed!
I am absolutely frothing at the mouth with expectation.
This stuff is gonna rock.
