What size is that in ratio to a dwarf?

Or just a really tall dwarf.

In my homebrew there are actually some throwbacks among the dwarfs who sometimes stand over seven feet tall. Dwarfs are giants, just very short giants.... These throwbacks generally get different training than the rest of the dwarfs, usually in the military. Dwarfs are, in theory, interfertile with ogres, producing a sterile hybrid. This is something that has never happened in the history of the game world - dwarfs and ogres just don't smell right to each other. (Humans, halflings, and elves don't smell right to them either, and neither is interfertile with either dwarfs or ogres.) Just an amazingly useless piece of trivia for the game world.

Ogres, by the by, are a great deal more civilized in the setting than in standard D&D, and get along just fine with the dwarfs. Not so much stupid as slow, there have been a number of ogre philosophers and mathematicians, including the equivalent of Copernicus - to reflect this they have a -4 to intelligence, but a +6 bonus when taking 20 with intelligence based skills. (Giving them a net of +4.) Slow, but amazingly thorough of thought.

Two of my players are buying the Calico Kate mini and her Relic (warjack) and want to hire me to paint them. One wants me to do some pretty heavy conversion, to convert the 'Jack to something a bit more steampunk - she intends to use it in my game, once she has a feat clear to take the 'Jack as a personal lieutenant. I swear she does this to see if I will squirm....



Hand swap, 'Jack weapon changed to cutlass, boilers and stacks added to the backs of both Calico Kate and her 'Jack. Green stuff, brown stuff, plastic card, three sizes of Plastruct tubing, Plastruct rod to make rivets, bass guitar string for conduits, plus basing materials. At the rate I work this is likely to take months. She is willing to go over $200 on this commission, so I guess she really wants it. :?

I think that I may buy one for myself, and let her pick from the two. This is going to be a challenge, I haven't done anything of this scale for over ten years.

The other player just wants his built and painted for display, his is going to be a lot easier.

*EDIT* This means no terrain building for a while. It's what I get for ignoring the nice big pile of printed cardstock for so long. Maybe I can make some before the minis and materia show up. I just didn't feel like cutting all that foamcore. :?

*EDIT 2* On the upside, I have no idea what she wants her character to be! Sometimes I love surprises! :lol:

I finished the above project, the recipient of the steampunked miniature was perhaps a little too happy with the results.

*EDIT* It took a lot less time to build and modify Calico Kate than I had planned, the fit of the kit is pretty decent, the only problem was the rider is multipart, and somewhat delicate. I had to order some parts that were missing form one box, but the folks at Soda Pop got the pieces to me very quickly when I wrote them about the problem.

Personally, I would be tempted to do a figure swap if I were doing one for myself - most likely either this:

The second would be the easiest to modify.
