I keep coming back, looking for my not-quite-daily-fix of brilliant cathedral goodness.

Seriously, I’v been very sick this weekend, so I couldn’t really work on the roofing. Give me a few more days and I’ll have more.

No pressure, just enjoying your work.

My Terrainlinx conversion of Dungeonlinx (which is very much a rudimentary, for-my-own-purposes kinda thing) has stalled out due to demands of work and parenting. So it's fun to watch your creation in the meantime.

I have been tangled up a bit by another project I am doing at the moment. It’s also a conversion from an old set into TLX format.

Now, I could just say which set, but unfortunately that’s not how it works here at WWG. When you start to work for them, you have to sign a paper (in blood evidently) that says "Thou shalt tease on the forums as much as possible. Thou shan’t ever give a straight answer when teasing thine peers is more fun".

As for a hint? It starts with a T. And there’s an m in there somewhere as well. And I hope to get it to a downoadserver near you by the end of january.

Wow. I just took 2 random letters out of the name and even managed to come up with 2 possibilities? Cool.

But yes, I am working with Denny on Thoumont’s at the moment. Though I must say it is going to be a lot more than just Thoumont’s in TLX format. Think playable attics, full modularity, a cool new roofing system,....

Basically, it will allow you to buiild almost any building you have in mind.

Dang, I was hoping TLX Cathedrae would be out before my group's next meeting in January. It was going to be my entry into TLX. I guess I'll be building the nonmodular one, then.

Someday I'll enter the TLX world! [wistfully] someday . . .

I still want the Cathedrae though - such an impressive structure. And your WIP pictures look pretty danged sweet.

Don’t worry, the cathedral is still on my to-do list.

The cathedral was almost done (as you can see in this thread), when I arrived at the roofs. As you know, there was no roofing system for TLX so I took the easy way out, just gluing the old roofs on a TLX board. When I showed it to Denny, though, he wasn’t impressed. So it was back to the drawing board. At about that same time, Denny asked me to look into Thoumont’s. As we both agreed it was more important to get houses in Himmelveil than churches, I put the cathedral aside to start on Thoumont’s. The added benefit of this is that we can first expand the standard TLX system (with roofs, diagonal floors,...), before making an "aberrant" version of them at a different height.

And at about the same time, I realised how stupid I had been in making my cathedral at such a strange height. I’ve realised that ideally, the high church walls (about 6" high) should be as high as 3 standard 2" TLX walls. That way, you can really start mixing different elements to create some very unique stuff.

Long story short: I’m going to try to get Thoumont’s ready as fast as possible. Once that’s done, I’m going to have a complete make-over of the cathedral, so it will be even better than what I have now.

So bear with me. Give me some time and all your wishes will be granted. (or something like that)

lol...its not that I wasn`t ``impressed``, your whole Cathedrae conversion is incredible, its just that I already had a modular roofing design in place. You certainly helped push that beyond where it was though

Any word on how this is going? I am starting up a Gargoyles game pretty soon now, and intend to use a cathedral as both the players base of operations and the location of a Hellmouth.

And am very glad to hear it will be re-tooled to be totally TLX compatible. In addition to the game I am currently running, I've wanted to run a 4e conversion of Temple of Elemental Evil for a while - and a modular church like this would be perfect.

The screenshots have been breathtaking, simply amazing. A finished product with those pillars, and stained glass windows, and gargoyles to sit on the outside pillar-tops, and all the accompanying props, would be jaw-droppingly awesome.

Any news on this project? It looks incredible!

I don't have the Hinterland exteriors set, but i was wondering if the tiles and other elements could be converted to terrainliX.

Not without some serious work as they are 7" tiles and TLX is 6" tiles. The trees, boulders, bushes, bridges etc. are to proper scale and will work fine.

For my take on how that works, take a look at my Hinterlands/Caveworks megabash (still ongoing, but haven't gotten anything new designed or built for it in a couple of weeks).
To bring this back on subject, the cathedral looks incredible, and I really can't wait to get my grubby hands on it and start building away.

What is the status of the Cathedral Noctis TLX? Such beautiful design work... some of us are still and no further mention has been made.

Yeah, I just discovered this thread and was blown away with how sweet this is. Alas, I do believe it is a product that has been shelved. If there is a re redo I am afraid they are looking at too much work on a project that has already consumed too much time.

I for one am glad to see the work done simply for the fact that it brought Menace to Denny's attention if nothing else. We all have seen his work on Thoumonts and the Friar. I own both sets and love them, though I really do need to download the Friar so I can start to work on it. Still waiting on my motherboard.
