Wow, just wow. I hope they give Del Toro a free hand; not much of a Cameron devotee but I love GDT's work.
edit: IA! IA!

If we are lucky we might see it in 5 to 10 years.
Jerry Bruckheimer bought the rights to do a RIFTS movie (Palladium Games RPG) several years back and that is about as far as it got. Rumours had it that David Franzoni (Gladiator) was going to write the screen play.
Bad RPG rules, but great setting.
I would really like to be able to see a Cthulhu film. Lets cross our tentacles!

That would really be amazing. At the Mountains of Madness is one of Lovecraft's best stories, I think. Seems it's supposed to be in 3D as well. Would be nice to see how tall they can make those mountains. I definitely have difficulty imagining the size described...
By chance, I got the Accessory Pack for the Call of Cthulhu adventure some time back in an old-stuff-box at a game fair, not even knowing what it was but thinking "hey, this looks cool". As I had it lying next to me, somebody tried to snatch it away, actually. Should have been my first clue... Then I found out how rare that is and spent about 5 years hunting for an affordable version of the adventure. First, I only found them for, like, 200 $ upwards, and only from US dealers, then an auction in Europe went past 90 € (what I was willing to pay at that time, that wonderful time when I was working, not studying, and still had money *sigh*). About a year ago, I finally got one via eBay.
From Sweden.
Now I'm trying to find the time and people to play that in the manner it deserves.
As for Lovecraftian movies, apart from lots and lots of "errr... not quite"-kinda B-movie adaptions, more or less loosely based on Lovecraft's work there is actually one really good one: The H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society released a modern black-and-white silent movie for The Call of Cthulhu which I find simply amazing. They even have convincing non-Euclidean geometry!!
They are now working on a black-and-white non-silent adaption of The Whisperer in Darkness.
I just love their style of filming, fits Lovecraft sooo well.
Oh, John Carpenter's In the Mouth of Madness with Sam Neill is actually quite good, too, I think.
