I took 'a break' from Thoumont's building to try out an idea. I really liked the details of the 3D walls from the chunky dungeons, and wanted to see if I could do the same in TLX form. I was imagining making some working archways or walls with secret door sections that could be removed etc.

But, I've been so knee deep in Thoumont's building that I decided to start there. I took a 6" wall and redesigned it to be able to fold into a 1 cm thick wall with the TLX tabs coming together on the outer side of the wall. It actually was really easy to put together, though much slower than your typical TLX wall.

My second wall section was a wall with two windows. I took the windows out of the wall, then designed four little window attachments - two for the interior and two for the exterior. They're like half-boxes that mount inside the wall, making the windows be inset. It really brought the "papercrafting" back to the TLX process for me!

I stopped at two sections, just because I want to get other things done, but I thought I'd share them in case others are interested in this idea, or have done something similar.



Here's a tiny house using the two 6" walls.



On the plus side, it's easy to get creative using that 1 cm of wall space for features. On the negative side, it's a MUCH slower process... :wink: If I continue with this, I'll make the GSD files and let my cutter do half the work for me!

So, whenever I need a break from churning out TLX pieces, I'll try to work on kitbashing more sections. I particularly want to try some ideas for doors, and I'd like to come up with a way to make a 3D fireplace and chimney system for Thoumont's TLX-based buildings... And, I've seen people do nice things by layering features onto the printed walls, like cutting out an extra layer of the beams to give it a more textured feel - that'd be a nice touch. Oh, and I REALLY I want to get back to making cool 3D dungeon features that combine nicely with the TLX system.

Its a cool idea but it also highlights one of the things we were trying to trim down with TLX, namely build time. Basically we needed a way to give walls the strength of a box build but without having to build an entire box. The antiwarp ledge was born from that idea, giving you strength and the appearance of a box build in half the time.

One thing your example would do very well at however, would be for one-off specialty walls, which feature an inset detail (like your windows).
