I just subbed a bash of this. It's a sleeve that slides over the frigate's forward section. You glue your cargo pods/plasma batteries/missile pods to the sleeve, so you can turn your Hastati frigate into any variant quickly by sliding on a sleeve & dropping on a cover for the model base. I think it'll save a lot of storage space. I only made sleeves for the 'advanced' model, but if there's enough interest I can make it for the simple model too.

Thanks. The downside is that you have to mount your missile pods farther forward than they're meant to be, but it doesn't bother me any...

How about a sleeve that makes a hastati into a dedicated ramming ship? something like...

I'm not a big fan of the idea of dedicated ramming ships, except possibly for obviously inhuman factions like the Scavengers. It's one of the problems that I have with the Aegis, actually.

A "budget" Hastati (like the Cargo, but without the cargo), or possibly an escort or other variant might be interesting. I have some ideas for faction-specific variant ships (reusing the existing models) for the five factions that I've been meaning to write up.
