We had a couple of young women do a topless walk-off at work today.

Suspicion is strong that the reason they had nothing on under their work blouses is that they were planning to do this anyway.

The two were chronically late, and could not understand why they had been passed over for promotion. One of the girls was okay when the other wasn't present - together they were not very good.

I think I may need to change dice, I'm getting weird results from the ones I am using now.

Someone has to have weird things happen to them. That way, on average, it keeps life normal for the rest of us.

edit: Wait a minute.... You have chicks walking around work topless, but I get written up because of a joke a coworker and I share where she throws something down and I bend over to pick it up and she goes "hmm hmmm GOOD!".....

One wasn't bad looking, but, really, I would rather have kept her - she was also a better worker than her partner in crime.

The other... I could have done without.

I think that I have had my desire to see most women topless burned out of me by pagan retreats and a few co-workers (from a previous job) that were clothing optional at home.

For what it is worth - public toplessness, male or female, is not against the law in Maine. Not commonly practiced (thank the gods) but not illegal.

I am totally confused. Why would any woman walk off the job topless for any reason? That behavior I just can't understand. It makes no sense at all in any situation. I am at a disconnect as to the 'why' of such self demeaning behaviour.

I would guess it has something to do with bra burning and emancipation. Still, a rather weird way of protesting.

One was likely to be fired, and knew it, so they made a 'statement'. Mind you the statement they made was:

At least it made more sense than the topless march - to call attention to the fact that you shouldn't call attention to toplessness.... (No, that one doesn't make any sense to me, either.)

Also better than that New York cop who arrested an artist for being topless, even though he knew that it was no longer a crime in New York... and then they tries holding her anyway....

I remember the 70s woman's movement. Some goals I agreed with but not all of it. My husband and I discussed it now and then at the time. My daughter was interested when they came out with a 'PlayGirl' magazine. She just had to show me that. I decided at that point the movement was definitely of course.

She told me I was stuck in my thinking. I told her I just prefer being respected as a woman and the magazine was something that eroded that.

Enough, I just will never understand and remain 'old fashioned' about such things.

For what it is worth, females being topless has never been illegal in the state of Maine (in the fifties it was semi common on Maine beaches, and led to possibly the silliest fashion statement ever - a sun hat with flaps that could come down to cover a woman's 'lady bits' ). Blackflies, skeeters, and pretty much every month that isn't July pretty much confirmed that it wouldn't be real popular.

Every decade or so someone rediscovers that shirts are optional in Maine.

Old fashioned means different things, different places, but blackflies speak a universal language..

And the blackfles, the little blackflies, always the blackfly no matter where you go... I'll die with the blackfly pickin' on my bones, in North Ontario hi ho, in North Ontario....

I can say that this something that sounds good in theory, but in practice I am glad it hasn't happened at my workplace. (and that is speaking from just a physical standpoint...not even mentioning the fact that I work at a school).

Well, yes. Most of my clients are 60+ years old. I totally understand what you mean.

Aaand one of them has asked for her job back. (The answer was 'no' - she left without notice, and in a disruptive fashion.)

So the bad one talked the other into doing something stupid and later realized it was stupid and tried to kiss up leaving the other out on a limb. Yeah, I have had coworkers like that. Thankfully the higher ups don't rehire the stupid one.

Tonight I was told by a blind girl that I'm 'not where you sound like you are'.

Must be the displacer beast - ventriloquism is a form of misdirection, and generally doesn't work on the blind.

Of course, the blind girl could also be recovering from a clold and have a swollen up auditory tube that can f-up the sense of sound's direction

She didn't seem to have any problems with anyone else, just me.

I wonder if I was projecting, speaking from the diaphragm. I tend to do that when I am with groups. (In this case a U/U function.)

If so, then I may have sounded closer than I actually was, and kind of invaded her space with my voice. Personal space might be very important if you are blind.
