What attracted me to WW in the first place is the quality of the stuff, so much so that if you're a model-maker first, gamer second, then it deserves the extra effort. Equally, the permanance of the build: I will use matt, strip-wood, anything to reinforce structure. This will be quite straight forward with the CWU walls but more problematical with buildings that require interiors - they will be more tricky.

I'm fortunate in that I live only a ten minute walk away from Tynemouth Castle in North Tyneside (horrible metropolitan re-name! ) formerly Northumberland, the former Kingdom of Northumbria in the northeast UK. The major castles of Bamburgh and Alnwick are about an hour's drive away and there are a dozen lesser castles and ruins within the same distance. (Alnwick was used for the Harry Potter movie) Walls can be 6, 8' thick, even in the inner-domestic(?) areas where strength was of lesser importance; sometimes much more. Similarly, I can't tolerate cut-out crenelations, happily the complex crenelations look good.

One reason I go for texture is that I like my models to be well lit, and its then that the smoothness of the card-stock can spoil the illusion somewhat. Its really up to the individual how far they go. I will eventually post some pics but don't hold your breath!

I'll have to admit that is one area in which I envy your side of the pond. The oldest buildings over here are at most 400 years and any castle is nothing more than a cheaply built tourist attraction.

Menatl health? Social life? These words are strange to me.
