Still at it...more unforeseen goodness! We're working at solutions though and making good progress.

Yep. I've been up for almost 23 hours straight getting all the pieces in place and consolidating the databases. I dry-ran the data migration three times this morning just to make sure that orders and downloads were moved correctly from the old to the new storefront.

We're just waiting on our hosting provider to do a couple of things. We were actually supposed to go live yesterday, but there were some incompatibilities that needed addressing, and they took care of that yesterday evening. Denny and I spent most of the night making last-minute adjustments and tweaks before freezing the software and flushing all test data out of the database in preparation for the final migration.

We've spent the whole day aggressively tackling our preflight checklist. It's a big day, we want it to go right, so we're making sure everything's just so before we flip the switch. In the process of tackling that list, we encountered several small server configuration issues and software requirements that our hosting provider is currently working on addressing. Once that's out of the way, deployment will be complete and Denny will be able to cut the ribbon.

We're just as excited and impatient as the rest of you are.

Is the Coffee drip running out yet?

Having been there for more times then I care to count, I feel for you Mel.
No matter how much prep goes into a cutover, I've yet to see one go completly smooth. It just seems to be the reality of software.

Or at least new releases

Oh no it's not you. It seems to be cosmic karma of some kind.
The last production cut over I was supposed to be involved in has beenput on hold for weeks now. Why? Not due to anything we did. Nope.
I consult for the power company in chicago right now, and on the night before we were supposed to do one of our deployments a storm came through and knocked out power to 800K customers...
Needless to say our software deployment got put on hold.
So like I said it's some kind of Karma, no matter what you do, something always messes up deployments.

I consult for (mostly) construction companies on the business software side...deployment and migration is always fun!

I've been on the phone most of the day with our host trying to get this and that squared away with them. We're FINALLY seeing some movement.

We won't call it a day just yet as there's still a chance we can make our launch window before Chris and I collapse into quivering sleeping masses.
