I'm still farily new at cardstock modeling, although I have built a complete CaveWorks system, a tiny Village and a small dungeon with DungeonWorks.  One thing I've always struggled with is getting my reverse scoring to actually score in the correct location.

On some models that have angles adjoining the reverse scoring line (such as the floors on CaveWorks floating walls), it is easy to line up the angles on a grid and score based on where the angles lie.  However, on other lines that have no easy 'marker', for lack of a better word, I've had to rely on my best guess, which in many cases has not been very accurate, leading to poorly scored models.

I've noticed that Skull Cove, particularly the cliff steps, has many reverse scores that do not have any 'markers'.

Any suggestions for getting my reverse scores on the scoring line?

this might be a bad way of doing it, and i'm by no means any kind of expers, but i use my knife to make a teeny little nick at either end of the reverse score line (obviously on the side where i can see the line).

then i flip the card over and join the two nicks up with a ruled score line.

voila.

I do it exactly the same way as Slightly... a tiny nick at each and, flip over and score. Another way would be to leave a little bit of waste on the edges, nick-flip-score on the waste, then trim it off. The nicks are so small that I haven't noticed any effect on the models by doing it the first way, though.

For the big Seaworks cliffs, I think (files at home, me at work) that there are cuts and scores and reverse scores all in the same area to get that fancy push-the-sides-together-and-the-stairs-pop-out effect. If you do the through cuts first (carefully, of course!), scoring should be easy on both sides.

Pinpricks... they virtually dissappear when you fold.

Theres a video tutorial on the front page.  Denny uses the "nick" method that slightly 76 mentioned.  I gave it a shot with my Seaworks set and it worked great.  Give it a go.  

I've never looked at the video tutorials b/c my connection is pretty slow.  Great tips - I will 'nick' away this weekend at some cliffs!

If you do your builds near your computer (or your TV), you can use your screen as an impromptu light table. I use my laptop's screen, since it's always right next to me.
