For general haystack look, I'd go with the bottom middle one.
For use with characters, I'd go with the top middle one.

The proportions of the two shapes are so compatible, it looks like you could make it convertible between the two.
Start with the top middle one as a base and add a removable piece the shape of the top part of the bottom middle haystack. That way the hay sticks up like the full haystack; and when the characters jump on board, the top piece gets removed (leaving the top middle shape) and it looks like the characters have compressed the hay down to the flatter shape (which is pretty much what would happen in real life).

Hmm, that might be possible. Although judging by the pics I've seen the hay would already be pretty well compacted. It seems like someone is usually standing on the top of wagon as its loaded.

I'll play around with it and see how hard it is to do with paper. But I'm working on something else right now so I don't know when I'll return to this.

Whichever way you go on the hay wagon, make it hollow and removable so PCs can hide under the hay.

Heres some versions of the hay wagon.


The top pics are the 2 versions I made. The middle 2 show a seperate curved piece that fits over either of the top 2. If the picture doesn't show it. The difference is mainly the front overhang. In the left the front face is flush with the leading edge of the front overhang. In the right the front face is flush with the interior of the front wagon bed. The overhang is only a flat piece.

Also as you can see on the bottom, I left the portion of piece that goes into the wagon bed untextured. Although now I'm considering apply textures there as well. So that white isn't showing if the part isn't sitting correctly.

Both versions are hollow and have no bottom. But I don't think the wagon and hay load are actually big enough to cover a mini.

I'm think that I'll submit the wagon and the hay stack together. So should I go with the hay stack shape I've got or do I need to do an alternative version?
Either or both sizes, or some other?

I'm partial to the top left version, with the left middle cover. Looks the most realistic, imho.

On that note, definitely texture the whole piece, so it can be loaded or removed and set aside in-game.

As for what's submitted, please just submit the hay inserts (not the wagon). No need, since it doesn't add anything new to the wagon.

No I didn't mean I'd submit the cart. I refer to the cart load of hay and the haystack, those 2 pieces. Sorry, about the misprint.

VillageWorks, probably. I may file it under something else, but that seems to make the most sense.

Never mind I just finished redoing it.

Heres a new question. I know that fold lines are supposed to be dotted. But I've never liked how prominate some of the dotted lines appear on some finished pieces. So when I did the fold lines on the hay piece I tried to pick colors that wouldn't stand out when finished.


Now as you can see the dotted line in between the 2 hay sections can be hard to make out. I went back and extended the lines into the white area so they are more apparent. With the extensions, is it ok to submit like this? As opposed to me going back and doing it with the standard black and white lines.

Why not make the GIMP image 8.5"x11"?

I don't know anything about CUTEPDF, but the full version of Adobe includes an "optimizer" that considerably shrinks the filesize when it's done with it.

The optimizer can (not always) have an adverse affect on image quality, however.

You can simply send me the best version you've got, and I can fix it on my end.
