I'm starting my cathedral build and I'm wondering if people have found that the extra time doing the window transparencies is worth it... I've done windows for the Red Sector control tower and some Mayhem buildings, but I find that the colors are brighter on cardstock than on the transparency -- at least with the ones I use and my printer.

So curious if others have tried it both ways. I'll probably give one wall a with transparencies just to see how it compares.

Well I'm in the process of building it and I found that the trans. are very very time consuming but well worth all the extra effort I'll have pics by the nights end to show you what it looks like with the trans. But I would say go for it but thats just me Now I'm off to build the remaining 3 walls for the first floor then pics.

Well, I find them worth the time.

The transparencies also serve as reminders that there are windows when the models are used in game. It may seem strange that people can forget that they are there, but I have seen it happen.

I usually forgo using transparencies in my builds. In addition to having faded colors the textures themselves aren't nearly as sharp as the cardstock ones. And frankly aside from putting candle lights in the interior so that the flickering lights are visible outside I've never really seen any benifit of going to that extra time and expense. I cannot even figure out how to get a decent photo of the the flickering lights.

All that being said I am still atracted to the idea of having transparency stained glass windows. But before I try it I want to know if there is any difference in the transparency quality depending on how they were printed.

I've only ever tried inkjet ones, and like I said I was underwelmed by the results. But I never seen laser ones or even color copier ones. Any one know if they're better?
