Heh, I think part of my problem is simply that the PDFs fit my needs too well - mats, by their nature, just can't have the same flexibility. In other words, I am the wrong darned audience for the town and modern city mats.

So, the generic ocean, grassy field, etc. would be the ones I would be most likely get - there is nothing more flexible than, well, nothing much.

The one I was hoping to like the most was the ancient township, but really Himmelveil, whenever it may appear, will serve me better. Its just that I want Himmelveil now, and so attached unreasonable hopes to the township as being the next best thing. Sorry about that.

Count me out on this one. I'm really only interested in cardstock models. I prefer the 7"x7" foamboard tiles for miniature gaming with WWG models. You can make it as big as you want, the terrain options are unlimited, and they store nicely in small stacks.

Vinyl gaming mats have to be rolled up when not used, and they inevitably get creases in them, unless you do like I've done and mounted them on a sheet of MDF board to make them smooth and sturdy. But then they take up even MORE room...

I think it's a good idea, but like Grump, I'm the wrong audience. My vote is to focus on more model sets. I'll buy any Modern or Fantasy model set as fast as you can produce them.

At present I'm the lone desert vote.
For me a desert mat, especially if it resembles the quality and textures of Mars Station, is an Alien Planet battlemat. I can plunk down Industrial setups, ruined cities, Martian Kraags, radioactive craters, and gas stations with cactus and very most definately get my money's worth out of it.

My second choice would be a sea mat for naval battles. And if I put a sea mat next to a desert mat then I have a beach setup for landing operations. I would just need to make some transitional flat pieces that look like surf, sandbars, or reefs to blend the sea into the desert. Those pieces would also serve to hide the seam between the mats.

A distant third for me would be Space battle mats, mainly because I don't want to use gallons of black ink printing out Uncharted Space. Now, I bought the US pdf, and it looks cool, but it's got a really low priority for getting printed and built-it's that black ink issue again.

I second the call for some preview pics of what's lying around Denny's office in terms of battlemat prototypes.

I voted for a grassy field, as that tends to be the most generic setting - perhaps with a cartwheel-rutted road down the middle?

A very close second is the forest (also a huge repeat area).

Third would be the jungle.

I need an alternative to the Chessex mats!

C'mon Air Combat Mat!!

Hi..

i stumbled upon your company recently by chance and am quite impressed.

Now i'm really interested in Uncharted Space and after a few rough calculations i've come to the conclusion that having a good quality vinyl mat of that kind would be preferrable.

If you would do a space mat when could we expect the mat? Late 07 or sometime in 08?

Any updates?

I'm about to purchase a personal vinyl set myself that matches the graphics I'm using for 3d terrain hex maps, but I'll also be doing some space maps in the future.


On that subject, I created an Aerotech 2 map that would look *great* kitbashing in some of the Uncharted artwork:




Keep in mind this was a quick prototype with some limitations. It would be really cool to use Sathrican's planetary curvature, but I need to maintain linearity *and* that 7 hexrow atmosphere to both work with AT2's rules and make the artwork tileable.

It would be even more cool to make it a full-on kitbash, but the 7 row atmospheric concept may be copyrighted to Catalyst Game Labs (or even Wizkids). I can ask Dave Stansel-Garner of CGL nicely if you guys aren't already breaking out in hives.

This is my first post here, but thought I'd chime in on this. I'm one of those gamers with little time to spend painting/terrain making - the flip side is money isn't so much an object. I've been looking for a good space mat for a long time, and stubmled upon the Uncharted Space setup months ago - but to be honest, printing and making my own map, and taking the time to find the optimum printer settings and getting everything I need and setup - just isn't for me because of the time involved. It's truly the best looking space map I've ever seen, so I'm eagerly awaiting s tangible product that I can pick up, and to be honest - there are mats out there that aren't nearly as nice with quite a price tag (~100 US). I would think the idea of tangible Uncharted Space map would be a great addition, and something I and hopefully many others would be willing to purchase.

On another note, there are a couple others I'd love to see - as someone else mentioned, I'm an avid Wings of War fan, and there's been discussion on other boards about the lack of a good aerial trench map to play on, again something else I'd love to be able to purchase.
