i have been using PVA (white glue) on all my builds and it has worked exceptionally well. I have been using it extensively for scratch building for a good number of years, so I am pretty savy to it's properties .

The trick is to use a smallish brush and apply it sparingly so it does little warping. For sandwich folds, I put the objects under a heavy book to prevent warping. The bond with PVA is extremly strong and I have yet to have any difficulties with it.

In general the less glue you use the better the results, keep the glue thin.

For the large areas that are folded double like walls spray 3M adhesive is indeed a wonderful thing, but if you get it wrong you pretty much have to throw that piece away, it is very quick setting.
