Its a common problem to the PDF format and printers in general. If you leave any kind of "scaling" on in your printing software, what it will do is try to squeeze things down into its predefined idea of what makes for optimal page usage.

One simple rule to avoid all these headaches; turn page scaling OFF before printing.

My guess is that the suggestion is to help with figuring out if your printer is actually printing things to the correct size or not.

Heck, just a freebie with imperial/metric scales on it in a few directions would be great. Print it once, know how accurate your printer is.

My print issues have been that one way my prints are in the 7"x7" tiles. They are roughly 1/32" or so long and short the other way, for a difference of about 1/16" when set next to each other.

Thanx for the 6x6 grid zenguy - I now know that my printer is so close to the correct measurements that I cannot perceive any difference between 6" on my ruler or the 6" grid in either direction. I can print with confidence.

What we coudl really use is
1. Information on what sets, or parts of sets, are affected by printer inaccuracy
2. instructions about how to deal with this

For the latter, I've tried rescaling the image in The GIMP to get it to correct for the difference in one dimension, but it didn't seem to work. I don't normally use image manipulation tools, so the problem was probably me.

If someone knows how to do this using The GIMP (because it's free and supposed to be good for this sort of thing), please post instructions.
