Hi, everyone. Working on a foamcore version of Thoumont's. I thought it would fit in well with one of the Chaos in Carpathia campaign scenarios called "Rescue". The scenario calls for a 12x12 inch building in the middle of a 4x4 foot board. Thoumont's is a little smaller than 12x12 (the base is 12x12) and I have it sitting on a couple of 20x30 half inch thick foamcore Hinterlands masterboards. Those can be used for another CiC scenario, "Battle in the Wilderness". And Thoumont's will be used in another CiC scenario called "Terror in a Tiny Town". Along with some VillageWorks, WatchTower, and HarborMaster builds. All of which we can also use in D&D and Song of Blades and Heroes. I love the way WWG terrain fits into so many settings.
Anyway, Thoumont's was a joy to build. The textures are beautiful. Building it with foamcore was a little difficult, especially the bay window up front. I did a few bashes of different textures to cover foamcore edges and corner joins. The roof I did in cardstock except for the support pieces, those are foamcore. Overall this was a very enjoyable build and the model makes a nice terrain centerpiece. I'm glad I was finally able to get around to it.

WOW That's a terrific build man! I really like the foamcore conversions people do. Its a great alternative for those that want something with more meat.

Yep, that's a pretty solid build. Doesn't look like a paper model any more.

Looks really good, and solid. I'll have to try something similar on my next building. The bay window cutouts look like they would have taken you a long time though...

@Arabin: Thanks. The bay window did take a while. I think if I do it again I will use mattboard for the window section, maybe with a foamcore topper. It would look better in the window frame area with mattboard and would probably be easier to cut and edge. I used mattboard for my Mayhem Marina ship kitbash, so I wish I had thought to do that for this one. Cautionary tale for you folks thinking of building Thoumont's in foamcore.

@Nekokoneko: Thanks, did you ever make any more Ember builds? I really liked the way you put in the lighting. I'd like to see some more of that. That's one of my future projects, a build with integral lighting.

@Morganm: Thanks, that's one of the things I like about foamcore besides it's strength. Just the solid look to the walls.

@Delta: Thanks for the encouragement. I do want to try the lighting. I bought some lights with a battery-op power box for a Halloween Village a while back. I was thinking they may be just the ticket to put lights into the Chapel from Wildwood Grove. The box can go into the steeple and I can use the v-groove cutter to run the wires through the foamcore under the pdf wall texture.

@LD: I know what you mean about the tools. I tried the X-acto foamcore cutter and never had much luck with it. At least it wasn't too pricy. One tool I found that was really good was a rabbet-cutter mentioned in a thread here in WWG forums. I can't remember who the original poster was, but I bless them everytime I use it. It's about $10 on DickBlick's site http://www.dickblick.com/products/foamb ... et-cutter/ , and I love it. It takes seconds to rabbit the corners almost perfectly. And it uses standard single edge razor blades for about $2 a pack. I also have some of the Foamwerks L and T clamps for holding corners and T-joins together. Those are also great. So I'm hoping that based on my favorable experience with the rabbet cutter and L and T clamps, that the foamwerks V-cutter works out. I guess I'll have to post a review, one way or another.

@Nekokoneko: That woould be great to see a lighting tutorial when you find the time. And if you're interested I can also direct you to a couple of paper manuacturers for counters or minis for Shadowfell.

I'd really like to see some pictures of it, and thanks for offering to do that.
Wouldn't mind seeing some of those miniatures too.
