Static.

The bigger one i am still planning will be more modular. I typically like to make a small static item for any new model sets (did it with Mels Scenery, First Light, The Maid, and some of the Pubs and Inns stuff) to see how the set works and goes together and get the feel of the set. Then i'll make something bigger.

As for the grid i'll see if i can hunt up the walk through i posted someplace else on how to do it. It's quit simple, but takes a while. I can knock one out in about an hour, hour 15min now, but the first time i did it, it took about 2 and a half.

It's basically a thick foam core (1/2 inch) with a raised grid layed down on it.

Yuuzhan Vong
Dimensions 40x30
Era: New Jedi Order
This scene is kind of envisioned as taking place on Yavin IV during the Yuuzhan Vong invasion. Many of the Jedi and support staff of New Republic troops, Han, Luke, Leia, and Lando are there as a Yuuzhan Vong scout ship has landed. A desperate battle ensues.
The Yuzzhan vong forces comprise all of the Yuuzhan Vong miniatures produced so far, as well as a number of Dungeons and Dragons monsters brought in to give some support. A number of the Aberration like monsters and a few fiendish ones have been pressed into service as Vong shaped beasts, or Vong creatures. Some Gricks and Mad Slashers assault a stone outcropping where the heroes of the rebellion have taken cover. A Vong shaped Gundark (Abyssal Eviscerator) charges forward to attack some New Republic troops, with a regular Gundark following. Abyssal Skulkers attack Corran Horn. While many Jedi fight in single combat against the Vong Warriors. The troops are supported by a X-1 Viper Droid.
Luke Jedi Master defends himself against 4 Vong (a Githyanki Fighter is being used to give more variety to the Vong forces). As the twins, with little Anakin with them fight their way onboard the landed ship.
Onboard the ship the Vong forces are filled out by a few more Dungeons and Dragons miniatures, a Destrachan, and a few undead, Deathlock to again give more variety.

Terrain Elements are Micro Machine Action fleet, Shadow Core Prime by World Works Games, and Homemade items.

Wow! Really cool and it opens up possibilities of SCP for me. Some friends and I want to play X-com with miniatures and SCP builds like yours would be perfrect for the alien spaceship encounters. Mix in a little mayhem scenery and you have the terror missions from the computer game.

While what this got built for has kind of passed, the ship is doing fine. Right now it has a bunch of the WizKid Predators hanging out in it and has secured a place on display.

I really like the concept of SCP, and if i ever get the time (and when my Ink is full) i'll try to do up the big version and post some pics. It has the plans ready but just no time to make it

While working on the "vong encampment" i had the desire to re do this ship. I was never unhappy with it, but i was also never 100% satisfied with it.
So as i was working on the other Vong thing i stumbled across the "Yorik-Vec" class of ships for the same species, it is actually the length of the last ship, but in published pictures it has a bit different look to it. So i looked over SCP and realized i could make it semi close with what was out there.

I took the same basic body plan as the last ship, but added some to the side of the ship, largely to give support for the massive prongs that were comming.

Great build and photos, so much detail in your work. Really like the smaller vehicle. Very inspiring. You're going to make me move this set up on my list of to build/kitbash. Keep the builds and photos coming.

You know, this is EXACTLY what I was thinking of when I made this set. Use the elements and just swap 'em around.

There are a few more "detail" things i want to add, but some of them i will likely have to make, becuase they don't really exsist.

I like a lot of the "corridor" dress things becuase they can be used to dress up the inside or outside, but i want more...

I would have loved to do some luch longer ones on the back to break up the length. I can do it i guess if i used a sandwich fold of one of the wall sets, and then just cut out longer and shorter ones. but it's something i haven't gotten around to. I also want to make a few spicule like things and i think i have an idea how to do it, just having probs figuring out the textures. I may have to read up it and figure out how to do the proper photo bashing (i prefer paper bashing)...
