I still have lots to do on this, but I thought I would post what I have so far:



This was my first build, so I'm learning lots of things, like:

Use the felt marker before gluing too many pieces together.
I really like to score everything before I cut things out; front and back.
Don't rush - hehe
Don't watch TV during a cut, if you do keep the first aid kit handy

Anyhow, I think it's looking okay... but the next one will be much cleaner

Nice Build!!! Makes me wanna revisit the maiden. I should submit my sail bash that I did for my maiden awhile back

That would go nicely with Snizitch's skeletal masthead!


Oh, and Snizitch...great build on the Maiden. Don't be too hard on yourself. I think you did a fine job.

Particulary those rails... I did this set as my first big build, and I could never get those rails right.

Just a quick question. Are the sails on the Maiden flat -- while the texture on the sail is designed to make it look curved, as if the sail is billowing in the wind? Or are the sails themselves curved?

The sails are flat but the design is curved and we give you instruction on how to bend them to give a billowed look.

So if you are placing a design on the sail -- like the vulture above -- do you have to adjust the image so that it too looks like it is curved? So that it isn't at odds with the sail texture?

I have actually shaped my sails a bit more since the photos above, but I had no problems with the Vulture looking warped or anything... I think the curves are slight enough you shouldn't have to transform it much.
