Of the many sets I bought by now the one I fell in love with first was Gothic Realms and the modular sewer system of Missing Persons ... it was a hard decision but in the end I decided on the yellow one to create a magical waste dump situated underneath the castle of an evil sorcerer ... well, something of that sort ...

The sewer is not as extensive as those of Missing Persons but then one can always recycle pieces once they are passed plus this little sewer was only to get into the mood ...

actually the players had to find the tree trunk to use as a raft in the dark water room ... as addition they had to persuade the giant with honey drops (don't ask ...) to come with them and fight the snake ... I was surprised that the players did a really good job in not vanquishing the giant and solving the puzzle ...

Btw. I tried to give the snake a true 3D shape ... a bit fiddly but it worked nicely after mirroring all parts and gluing them back to back. Then the paper could be shaped while the glue was still wet. The same was done with the arms of the giant.

The dark water room was created with the seamless dark water tile from Something Below. The walls were 7 inch walls from Gothic Realms. Allowing the water to reach "up" the walls gives the impression that the room is much larger than the standard 7 inch of the modular system ...

I agree, great work. The snake has a very good effect. But I especially like the snake's room. Those walls are great. The water effect does seem to make the room much wider.

Is it a photoshop effect? Or are the pillars actually a 2nd layer thats on top of the walls?

I agree with LD2062.I like much the room of the dark water. The serpent and the beast also seem fantastic. Today must be my day of luck, I was thinking of doing Gotic Realm and you show me an example " not official " about the system of sewers works. Great work and thank you very much! This is actually a cut&paste real paper job ... the idea came while I did the walls. The untouched walls looked a bit bleak and even though I wanted the 7x7 standard I wanted it to feel kind of infinite ... I actually ripped the walls apart twice before I got the right idea to make use of the seamless dark water tile. I printed two sheets extra to create the walls and overlaid the cut out 7 inch wall on the dark water side. The intact other side was folded over for the outer wall ... A rather simple bash. In the end the only decision was how far up the dark water should reach. Overall the wall is roughly half an inch higher than the standard walls.

For the snake I cut out all black parts, including those of the head. You can see the difference between the printed black and the edging. The head has a shape too with a wide jaw and high cheek bones but it lost a little in the photo.

Btw. The gratings are cut out too They look so much better than the transparencies. (but then I had the flue and too much time to pass anyway ...)

I could tell the grating had been cut out. They do look very nice though. And its much more reasonable to cut them out then the mesh of cargo hold mesh of the maiden.


I really like the water walls. I will definitely include them in any gothic realms layout I do. But someone should really experiment with the effect in photoshop. Even enhance it. Use some perspective tricks to give the illusion that the water goes back much further and have more columns in the background too. Like there is a vast stretch of water that has been completely covered by some structure.

I agree. Already I have in mind an adjustment of this room for my GR. I hope that you like when you see it.

Echizen that is a really nice build. I hope to get my "Chunky Gothic" finished soon. I have about half of the walls and some of the sewers done alreayd.

Your build has certainly gotten me to concider getting back to building it.
