At last (after nearly a year), I have completed my Cathedrae Noctis build - and for good measure, I have embedded it in a Hellworks I setting.

I ran the game designed with the Terrain in mind last week and it was a blast. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera However, I managed to set the terrain up today and get some piccies. When my gamers get their photos to me, I will post the in-game shots.

WOW! You really went to town! How did your players like it?

That is impressive. I had written Hellworks off as too horror genre for my D&D game but now I think I thought too fast. I guess this set will go into the wishlist with Hinterland and a couple of the upcoming releases.

Very, very nice. The cathedral came out great. Extra points for going with transparencies.

I love those skull pile/pillar props. Where are they from?

Matt, as you might expect, they loved it, right up their with the CastleWorks Ultimate game a ran a couple of years ago. When I get the actual in-game photos, I'll put up a short game report.

It was a 17th level (3.5ed) D&D adventure - self penned of course and it was horrendously complex to run. But all in all, great fun.

Those transparencies look great (although I have yet to find a way to get enough internal light into the building to get a really good photograph that shows them off as well as I'd like) but were a heap of extra effort. Many was the time during the build that I'd regretted choosing them over the paper windows. I'm reall glad now that I did.

The Skull pillars are from the Dwarven Forge "Cavernous Rivers and Walls" set. DF is really expensive, but does deliver some great props that are hard to match in cardstock. DF will never offer the variety that WWG does though.

For interior lights I'd check the dollar store. I have bought some of those little candle leds for inside pumkins and things and this little dome led. Both are easy to drop inside any WW building. And the dome could be covered with colored celefain if I wanted to change the light color.


Aside from that perhaps a flashlight or one of those battery powered lanterns or emergency lights.


You might also try x-mas lights but they have a cord to deal with.

At the actual game, we did try some small battery powered candle lamps but to be honest they weren't really man enough for the job. I need something that sheds more light. I did try some torches an they were better, but the beams of light were too directional and looked odd. Something like the device in your second picture might do the job though.
