Excellent work. Are the walls built on matte board?

The walls, and everything else for that matter, are reinforced with mounting board, which is, I believe known as matte board in America. It is a technique that I use for all of my cardcraft models. As I mention in the review, I reinforce the floors with foamboard, which is glued underneath the mounting board.

Thanks Vampi! I've been thinking of doing that myself, but had also considered using foamcore. Will have to do some price checking and see which is more economical.

Nice builds, I've been reading over your reviews but was wondering how do you you get your floors to stack neatly and how easy are they to knock apart?

From the picys/descriptions it appears the foamcore re-inforcing for the floor above is recessed into the floor below so it's flush with the top of the lower levels wall. Then each wall component prepared (outer print/matt/inner print)and glued down to the foam core then the re-enforcing matt board floor and texture added? close at all?

@Sirrob01 You've just about got it. Working from the ground up I'll stick the ground tile onto matteboard. The walls are formed as you said - outer wall and inner wall sandwiching the matteboard these are then stuck in place. Any internal walls are cut 0.25" shorter than the external walls. The same technique is used for the floor above but I reinforce the underside of the floor with foamboard which is cut to fit flush with the inside of the walls below. Because it is a) much much thicker than the matteboard and b) because it is cut and measured to fit perfectly flush with the inside of the walls below it does not move once it is slotted in place. I find it an elegant solution for stacking multi-storey buildings. It is important to remember to allow for the thickness of the foamboard when placing interior walls or really tall furniture like bookcases.

How tall are the wall for the mayhem buildings?

I do my village works house the way you do the office floors and I have to cut down tons of props so the would fit in that 1.75" of open space below the upper level floor.

Vampifan, thanks for sharing the process, I'm going to incorporate it into to mayhem rebuild.

@LD2062 From what I gather, all fantasy buildings walls are 2" tall. All Mayhem buildings and the Shellendrak Manor sets are 3" tall. It gives you much more leeway to play with, especially when fitting stuff like bookcases. I've got the Pubs & Inns set and Castles & Keeps sets which I sometimes raid for furniture, so I can appreciate your problem when faced with 2" tall walls.

Hugely impressive build here - as are all the others he has done.

Just a note on heights, the wall sections in BOM are 3.25" high because they were of course only ever intended to be exterior flats and thus designed to take into account the foamcore thickness of other buildings made from sections of Mayhem Armoury (the only other set available at the time). That way games where characters were moving from rooftop-to-rooftop would stay level.

Rossyuk, I've never had any problems with warping. I'd guess that because mounting board is so thick it is hard for it to warp. I'm not saying it can't warp but it has never been a problem for me.
As for your second question, one piece of mounting board is enough for my builds. It is sandwiched between the interior and exterior walls, which I print out on 130gm double-sided matte photo paper.

I'm in the same camp; I've never had problems with warping. It has EVERYTHING to do with your glue choices and application though. You need to use low water content (papercraft friendly) crafting glues and or spray adhesives. A follow up to a question i raised sometime ago about builds.
When building your walls with mounting board, do you cut the mounting board slightly shorter to allow the exterior wwg walls to wrap around the join?

Or do you allow the thickness of the car to leave a black join line?

I cut it a little shorter.

Front and back walla are cut the same size. Side walls are cut slightly smaller to allow for the thickness of the card.
