A lot of folk, myself included, post pictures of their Mayhem buildings and scenery but not many show off their Mayhem vehicles. There are a most impressive amount of vehicles that WWG offer for use in a contemporary setting and I'd like to share some of mine. First up is the pick=up truck from the Mayhem Armoury set. I have made a couple of buses - one gets used in games, the other is on my desk at work and is used as a visual aid when someone gets stuck with an assignment that no one wants - or just blame for something - and gets "thrown them under the bus."

Otherwise, I have been picking up cars from the local toy big box toy emporium. But, after looking at these, I might have to try my hand at the WWG vehicles again.

Those are sharpe! That's something about modern terrain I thought was always rather expensive; buying all of those scale model vehicles. These cardstock versions look sweet and I'm sure are much cheaper!

There are pros and cons for using die-cast vehicles just as there are pros and cons for using card model vehicles. I have tried to address this issue in my latest blog post (just click on the address in the post above for my camper vans). For me, I have to say that the pros for using card model vehicles outweigh the pros for using die-cast vehicles. I certainly would not dismiss using die-cast vehicles completely. I do own some and would definitely use them if the circumstances were right. Where WWG scores highly is in choice and affordability.

Indeed it does. I'd forgotten all about it. It's still on my pile of models to make.

Burnt out junkers are the models set of the lot. Those are great props which are hard to get elsewhere.

If it is easy, then you should convert it. Any chance on putting in some transparency windows and passenger card behind them?

Well, that is certainly something to bear in mind. I doubt if I'd ever go so far as to adding interior detail but I have thought about converting one for a post apocalypse setting. Something along the lines of what the convoy of survivors used in the film Resident Evil: Extinction. Basically, adding armour plates, wire mesh over the windows and loads of cargo supplies stored all over the place.

Very cool. An armoured bus would be wicked!

Aha! Thanks for clarifying that, CapnG! So how popular are beige vans in the States? I can't remember seeing any here in the UK.

Popular? I don't know from popularity but I've certainly seen enough brown, beige and grey/brown vans in my time to know it's fairly common.

A suitable layer of dirt on an ageing white van makes it look beige. I've seen plenty like that

Here are the vans from the Bits of Mayhem set, including the beige van that Matt and I have been discussing. I mentioned in my blog review if it was meant to be beige or if, as Scotherns has also mentioned, a very dirty white van. Matt says it is a beige van, so who am I to argue?

Hi great looking models, question how do you get the tires so round? they look perfict!!

Thanks, Grg3d. There's a knack to making tyres. First of all cut off all the white triangular tabs. You don't need them! Then reinforce the tyre tread section with thin card. Use this to glue it to the white rectangular section (assuming you're making the semi-circular wheels). Now cut out about five or six semi-circles out of artboard/mounting card and fit them back to back in the open wheel section. Make sure they'll fit by cutting them to the right size. It's a bit fiddly and it is time consuming but you end up with a solid wheel. Glue it to the undercarriage of your vehicle. Next add the fully circular wheel part. I usually reinforce these in thin card but you don't have to. Finally edge the wheel and you're done. none of my wheels will ever suffer from a puncture, lol!
