Well I started a Titan build pretty much when it first came out.

Still glueing stuff together, but right now...
I had about 2.25 inchs (57mm) of paper to start with.

And just a few tiles...

My hand cramps up just looking at all those mounts! Mind you, FREAKIN AWESOME potential!!!

eheheh, that is the reason why none of the 3x3 are done, the notchs finally got too much for me.

Plan to get them done later...

But as of now, got 32 of the 6x6 fllor tiles done, and 20 of the 3x6.. start on walls and posts monday night, to get the base of the build done.

I plan on this being Big well maybe Tall , but not that much in the way of ground cover 2-3 on a side by maybe 3-4, depends on what it looks like.... once it gets set up a bit.

Mounts would have been really handy, spent most of today just doing the floors.... Can't wait to get into building the walls.

Wow. Thats a lot of mounts. Tiles are the hardest parts for me to get myself to build. Thats why I want to buy those pop out mounts Denny had in the video.

If only I could get precut, glued, and edged anchors too.

Well those huge stacks of mounts is really taking a long time to get turned into floor sections, I finished all but 10 of the 6x6 floors sunday night, and started a few of the 3x6 (there were 5 that Robo-Robby could not read so last night as i finished up the 6x6 by hand, and seems i miss counted, I have 6 6x6 mounts with no floors printed, think I will save those for Titan2. So after I did those, last night I got all of the the 3x6's cut by Robo-Robby...

So after two days I have only managed to get the floors done, ok, it was close to 90 tiles worth, but still, at this rate it will take for eva, I have not started on the 3x3's want to actually get a some progress on making something I can build fisrt and just floors seems so lack luster.

Debating Posts or walls first and just can't decide

Actually my first planned build is not going to be a ship!
I will eventually use it for likely the inside of a space station or something, but the first build I want is for RPG purposes, and something I think TLX will be perfect for.

Nar Shaddaa, the moon known as the Vertical City, the light construction materials, and modularity and stackable design I think lend itself well to making a build tha twill truely cover this location.

I have pictured in my head Large tower stacks with bits jutting off for speeders and ship landing pads, with open areas and bridges connecting them... If the build i make looks half as cool in real life as in my head I think this will come out sweet.

Trust me floors are the time killer. I would rather do 100 walls or posts than 10 tiles. It will take you a lot less time to kick out some walls or posts.

Oh don't I know it, I only made a few floors with my first Himil build and got rigth to the walls and posts, and had to go back and make more in the middle of my build. It's why I started with the floors, to get a good base going and to get an idea of how many of the other things I wanted. They are so needed but soooooo time consuming.

When I say I did 90 floors I mean just the floors, I got them cut and on the mounting tiles, that was it, last nigth was getting a BOX full of the anchors on (and some edging), So I have about 50% of the 3x6 Anchored, and i think almost all if not all edged. The rest of the 3x6 have the anchors glued up and edged, but not on the floors...

I got enough of the anchors for the 6x6 cut, but not glued, or edged yet...
That will likely be Thursday night (I have the game i am building all of this for) .

I wanted to have this all constructed so I could do some building over the weekend, but DARN I will be lucky if i get all the floors done this week.

Oh well when I get home have to plug away.

I did get some walls cut last night aas I was glueing the anchors... I mean Robo-Robby was just sitting there doing nothing other wise.

I have 12 ready to go as soon as I get some floors and posts for them.

reminds me I think I will need a new blade soon have to find that thread where you can order one.

Actually I dont mind doing the tiles. Its the posts and tabs for the tiles that drive me bonkers

I can't figure out how to get the tabs to stay flush with the white squares. When I assemble, I always have some of the white square visible. I've taken to marking the square black before I glue.

Do your posts actually fit between tiles? If the anchors anchors aren't aligned right the posts probably won't fit, and your walls will probably bow. Are you using the tile markings at the ends of the arms to position them when gluing?

By posts you mean the columns that the walls fit into, then yes, they fit fine.




I do have problems with my floor tile curving a bit after I put them together. Once I put the posts and wall units in, the whole setup seems to realign itself. The non bowing walls do curve when I use them, I need the walls with the triangles on top in order to have the support to keep everything straight.

I posted a picture of one of my Infinty minis on the Titan build I'm working on here, there are several issues, like the ink is flaking off the card stock as I fold and pose it, but the big clue to look for is the while at the bottom of the posts. That white is the bottoms of the anchor tabs and the assembly is not allowing the wall to settle flush with the floor. I chalked it up to 'first time trying this' imprecision.

What do you mean by: 'using the tile markings at the ends of the arms to position them while glueing'?

He is referring to the white sections printed on the floor and the marking around that area. They are there in order to align the anchors (they don't sit completely in the corners. There is a little, predetermined gap from the edge).


As for Ghenghis_Ska, you and DeathReaver have been inspiration for me to get a decent chunk built in past week or so. Keep it going. I need my incentives, otherwise I may end up "wasting" my minute free-time playing video games, watching TV or *gasp* cleaning the house.

oops, that should be' using the tile markings for the ends of the anchor arms.' I was refurring to the little (L) shaped lines that mark where the anchor arms should be when they are flat on the floor.

But looking at your picture, I think I miss understood your problem. I thought you had some of the white glue square showing. But your posts just aren't going all the way down. Thats probably not a build error on you part. When that happens to me its because I use $1 foamcore, and its not actually flat, its slightly bowed. Which is one of the reasons I want the precut mounts Denny is trying to make available.

If you also are using curved foamcore there are a few things you might try to help. The cheap and easy one is to have your tile dry after gluing under weights. I used a stack of boards. Others use a stack of books. But although it might help, I really doubt that'll fix it completely.

Another is to glue the foamcore to something like mattboard before making the tile. Since I use 3/16" foamcore that would actually thicken my tiles to the proper 1/4". But mattboard is expensive and makes cutting the tiles even harder, so I just live with the curve.

Now to reduce ink flaking a better score line might help. Using a knife score should really help, but I find cutting the paper surface makes it more prone to pealing off in layers. Although thats mainly just a problem on the anchors.

What I use is just a normal wood awl. I hold it almost horizontal to the paper. It gives me a really nice thin deep score.

So far I've been bending the paper with my thumb around the edge of a metal ruler. A nice score line for a fold would probably work much better.

Bit of an update...

Wed night is the game i am buildning this for, so was there and did nothing on construction.
last night (thursday) I did anchors, - some bulk edging, and worked on walls, as I put even more anchors down the 3x6 tiles are completly complete 9edged, built and anchored)

first nigth was cutting the floors out, then glueing them down, then edging them (yeah i should have edged first and a bulk edge would ahve been better, I forgot), after all 90 floors were edged started work on all the anchors, got the 3x6 anchors done, and on the tiles... still have to do the 6x6... oh the tedium...

But while I have been glueing floors together I got about 40 walls vut out (20 pages of the 6 inch walls) will have to hit the 3inch later, then the posts.

can anyone recomend a good site to buy a replacement blad for the silohuete robo cutter, not quit ready to get it but think i wiill be needing one for/after the posts.

I remember seeing some links some time ago but can't seem to find them my search fu is poor today.

I have been wondering this as well. I was trying to Google a decent price/reliable site as well, but am unsure if what I found is the best choice. I found the blades for $9.99, but shipping was like $5.50 or something. Ebay had some for around the $12.50-$13.00 mark with shipping iirc. I would like to buy 2-3 blades and was hoping to get some kind of combo pack to lower the cost.

So update.
Thursday I was doing all the anchors edged and glueing those down.

Friday I went out, so did not do anything

Saturday evening I got back home from my night out on Friday, and set about I think finishing the anchors I and needed to print a few more off as I miss counted, still have about 10 of the 6x6 left to anchor... darn the anchors are taking for ever.

Sunday I got all of the 6inch walls glued up (ok not all still need to print the transperincies and get them in for the port hole walls) and edged but other than that got all of the 6inch long walls cut edged and built, and cut out all of the 3 inch walls!. And started on the posts. Got 5 sheets of the 2 way posts, 3 sheets of the 4 way posts, and need to get the others done, I printed a few of all of them off, but honestly not sure how some of the new ones them , very interested in the angled ones, and those are the next walls I want to cut out.

A little miffed at myslef. I forgot to bring the transperincey film in and a print out of the window inserts to copy (I scorred a lot of free copier transparinces and they won't work in my printer so just need to use the library one and do a few.)


So by the end of the week I might actually have something built!

I was originally thinking about doing something with this for this wed nights game, but remembered the Players were headed to a diferent location.
So this will work for the next two locations, not where they are headed to next.

But almost ready to actually put up a layout only a week later.

everything is cut & edged, need a few glues, will strart building friday!

Sorry, I didn't get a chance to make a set up of anything over the weekend, as well I printed out more stuff!

I had never looked at Balconies before and when I was messing arounf in the files found them, and printed of some of those which got me into some other areas.... So i printed out some more items, which are now almost done as well... I did work on them over the weekend.

I have a box full of stuf... I just need to find a place to build the layout.... I think I have one, so I just need to start setting it up ...

Which I hope to do tonight, if all else fails I willl likely be using some of it in my game on Wed night so there should be some pictures of a build comming soon, really I promise.

Just about everything is built, While I still want to do the Nar Shaddaa build tonight using Titan tonight in my Game.

Packed up the car with the boxes of Titan and some PlatCon extras for game tonight...

Expect pictures late tonight or tommorrow some time.

Pre-congrats on getting it done! I can't wait to see the pics to be inspired to push out more of my own sets.

Work and schoolwork have hindered my progress, even though I've built most of a tricked-out Firstlight ship. I look forward to your Titan set up as well, I'm still torn between a bug hunt maze and a bunch of buildings.
