This is still a work in progress. It's just a rough layout but you can see the size of the gamespace I'm going for. Later, there will be walls and a few buildings.

I wanted to get a little background on this project, so everyone has a better idea of what I’m doing and where I’m going.

My build is focusing on the town square and some deep underground sections (once I start building them) that are focal points in my campaign. The city is called Waypoint and is a port city, but it’s unique in that the city actually rests on a cliff 600 ft above sea level. My inspiration for this was the cliffs in Ireland. Thanks to Dwarven engineering, the cliff face was cut away, forming seven terraces with a road leading down to the docks. The grade ends up being rather steep, about 20% (I think) but in the actual city (not represented on my model unfortunately) there is a ‘lift’ system that helps ferry cargo from the docks up into the city proper. Each terrace will consist of two ramps, followed by a flat road section, and then the next terrace begins. On the terraces themselves are homes that the affluent and well off folks in the city live in (cause of the excellent ocean view). The dwarves actually used to have a small harbor here but it’s long since been forgotten, however its still there underneath the current Waypoint docks as well as a long tunnel that leads into the dwarven city several miles away in the mountains.
In any case, my build focuses from the town square center to the first wall just before the terraced sections begin. If I were to build this whole thing (And believe me, the epic side of me wanted to) to scale using World Works Games terrain it would be over 9 feet long and roughly 6 feet high, with the terraced section fanning out to about 5 feet wide.
My build is going to compromise several set pieces – the first mentioned is the town square to the first wall. The 2nd set piece will be 1 section of a terrace consisting of two ramps, a flat road section and a row of tiles on each side (a 3x3 6 inch tile area). The 3rd setpiece will be far below the city and consist of a section where the PC’s will be making a final stand against invading forces. There, they are protecting the city’s defense system in order to help the surface drive the invaders off. I have this part on the planner, but nothing physical yet.
If I get time, I may build a 4th part, the docks themselves but considering this project is already pretty big I may err on the side of actually running my game this year. 
Events during the game will happen concurrently on the surface and the underground part, and how well the PC’s do on the surface will depend on how well the PC’s underground can defend the lab.

And a really tidy build. Are you doing anything special with the way yo;re buidling this?

Kinda. I'm putting the floors together in sections so they can easily be lifted off if play goes inside. This is also useful in case PC's are on different floors. I'll illustrate this better once I'm done. I just have the roof's really. The center of the building is actually going to be a 'clock tower' without the clock. Right now I'm thinking it will be 5 stories tall from the ground up, but this may change once I get the main roof on. I want the tower to stand out from the roof, and if it's not tall enough I feel like it won't stand out enough.

Its great to see people thinking in terms of which areas can be lifted off to access lower levels. One of the core thrusts in making TerrainlinX was a system which gave true accessibility to play on all levels.

More work. All that's left of my 'town hall' is the tower. I'm going to have to mod the post - to - post connectors because I want to build a solid tower structure rather than just stack floors on top of each other.

Your roofs are very blue, did you customize them or does your printer just print them that way?

Probably a combo of my printer & the way my phone took the photo.

My printer is an inkjet so that's probably the best it's going to do.

Great work. I can't wait to start build Thoumont's. I just need to find the time to get building again.

Some personal things and distractions kept me from completing the building for awhile, but I finally got the tower finished. Now on to other parts of the town. More pics to come!

I got the lamps at Lowe's during Christmas. It's for all the 'Christmas' villages you can put together - porcelain houses that sorta thing.

I grabbed some lamps after Christmas at the dollar store. Not as nice as those though. Mine are just single lamps per pole.

I love it! Nice work, and I especially love what the tower adds to the build. It adds visual height without taking up much space on the board. I also love your attention to the little details, like the streetlight. Its obvious you are paying attention to the scene as a whole, and not just building individual structures that happen to be thrown together.

Here are two views of the building added into the rough layout, as well as the wall where the first terrace is. I initially had the roads and the first building planned out, but not much else hence the empty spaces.



Here is my planner pic of the underground portion. The down stairs at the top lead down to the 'lab'. The maze is part of the defense structure, and will play out as a 'tower' defense style mini-game. It sounds weird, but makes sense within the larger construct of my campaign.

That's one nicely built town.
