Our very own Tomas Mennes recently gave WWG a healthy plug at this years Belgium's Crisis Con. I just wanted to share some of the incredible work Tomas did on his table display and to thank him sincerely for getting the word out over seas.

Are these cut out by hand? On some of the EXTREME close-ups it looks like they may have been hand-cut. If so, wow! Talk about dedication!

Either way this is definitely a drool-worthy build.

I cannot wait for my first few TLX builds to finally come together. I have been playing with pieces here and there, but nothing substantial like this. Eventually the various sets will be all built and will dominate my gaming table!

Actually, it is surprising how easy all of this went. From time to time, I get into a building frenzy and then I build 20 or 30 tiles, a lot of walls and posts. It is surprising to see how easily this builds up to a large amount. I was surprised myself to see that I had even more street tiles left that just wouldn’t fit on the tables.

Most of this is cut by hand, I would say about 75%. I do own a robocutter, but I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with it. It is great when it works, but it has some serious hickups. PLus the fact that I usually cut and glue at night, while watching TV with my wife. For some very strange reason, she doesn’t seem to like me having a robocutter working next to the TV. Something to do with the terrible noise it makes

And to make it all complete, here’s a picture I took with my phone after breaking up the stand. This is the entire citybuild. The bottom box contains all the linktabs and the top box contains the various props. Yes, this is all. Amazing how small it gets once stored.

It is clearly one of the best and most impressive builds anyone will see - no modding as such, just pure sets.

Great to see TerrainLinx in full flight (TLX is the Lego of gaming terrain). Streets, Sewers and Thoumonts: three different sets fitting together like they were one - this is where the value of TLX really starts to show.

Plus a Maiden, right at home tied up to the Himmelveil Docks.

I was overwhelmed with the size of the layout before it was broken down. Surprising though, the broken down pic gives me hope of having something similar one day. How many tiles would you say that is? If I had to guess I would say that I am at more than 1/4 of the amount with my ~40 six inch tiles (and that is just streets. I plan to build Thoumont's next).

Amazing work! Those pic should be permanently on the site somwehere to show just what can be done. That's one game I wouldn't mind playing....

Wow....can we give this guy an award of some kind? No kidding. In the all the years I've been trolling the site, I don't think I've EVER seen such a comprehensive multi-set build. Certainly not of this quality.....and I know we've seen some awesome builds here (shellendrack is coming to mind...and the maiden). Kudos and great work!

I saw the display at Crisis. While absolutley not convinced that paper terrain would work and look cool, I had a very nice conversation with Tomas, resulting in me buying several WW sets (and a printer in fact) to try building some TerrainLinx terrain myself. Currently, I'm building a Dwarven Dungeon, but also planning a Thoumont's Pirate town.

In other words, Tomas, thanks for the information and the amazing layout at Crisis. It won another soul for paper terrain!

BTW, it looks even better in real life!

What are it's dimensions? Just looking it looks like 3' x 7' which is pretty damn big.

Also, what would be the monetary cost of this whole setup, including purchasing the designs from the store? (I'm trying to get a local games shop interested)

Cost? I'll take a blind stab at that... Some of this is wild and slightly high estimates.

For a build of that size, we'll need some supplies. This is fairly variable depending on if you can get deals, local shop prices, etc. Numbers are what this would cost me.

Paper: a ream of 500 pages of 110 lb cardstock will run me about $30.

Glue: I buy glue sticks. 3x 3 packs @ $5 each.

Edging pens: Pack of sharpies for $5

Craft Knife + blades: $5 for a knife + $5 for a set of extra blades.

Ink: My color laser prints at a cost of approximatly 17c / page. This is a bit high due to the fact that these are full page color prints. Assuming 400 pages printed, $68

Foamcore. Without counting the tiles in the picture and doing the math, I'm going to guesstimate you'd need about 12 sheets of 20x30 I get them in three packs for $15 each.

Adding everything above up and rounding up a little bit we get a material cost of about $250.

Thats far higher than I spend here for most supplies.

Foamcore 20x 30 sheet $1 (its always a bit curved. But I haven't found flat even at $10 a sheet)

knife and 10 blades $1 ($2 if I have to buy knife and blade separately)

3 pack of big gluesticks $3

$1 for white glue for tabs. (I apply it with a toothpick so it doesn't warp the paper. Toothpicks $1)

cardstock 150 pgs $5.50

crayola 10 pack fat markers $2

Wowzers, maybe that's some Canada vs US pricing?

I grab most of my stuff from a office supply store chain, which may inflate the price a bit as well.
