Just started watching it (also building LHotDK)

FYI X-actor are a knife manufacturer .
The knife you are using (my fav type of knife) is a snap-off retracting knife.

Also I don't know if you have found it yet (not many do) but the end (the redbit) has a slot in it for braking of segments.

The slots, particularly in the REALLY cheap plastic ones you can find in a lot of the US dollar stores, doesn't always work to snap off the blade.

I've added a list in the first post of how I'd like the video sessions to be ordered. Note that these are not final and are subject to change.

Just to add this dangerous little tip.
Blades are never sold perfectly sharp (apparently there some eu rule)
Buy a proper wheat stone/oil stone/wet stone/Diamond sharpening block and give each blade/blade segment a sharpen on a regular bases (takes practice to get the correct angel) and wipe clean.
Helps prolong the life of the blade and reduces the chance of hairy cuts.

BTW any idea of when part 2 is going to be done?

Well they won't all be done in a week, believe me! There's no time limit for me to do these but I wanted to get a full set of video including every stage starting right from the beginning.

I can't wait! Also, this will be a huge boon to the community once complete. Very generous of you.

There's not really a start-to-finish (set of) video(s) (that I've found) for anyone to follow, especially for TerrainLinx so I though "why not?" Firstly it'll stop me from giving up if you guys are waiting for the next session, and secondly, when I make monumental cock-ups you guys will correct me, which will make it all the better for my next build.

Great start Nickydude! Even though I have been doing this for a while I look forward to watching your series.

One suggestion I would have for you when recommending the edging markers would be to simply say that when possible, have colors handy that match the colors of what you are working with as close as possible, with the only required pen being black (gotta color the insides!).

Thanks, the sharpener works perfectly but be careful when scoring, after sharpening you only need a very light amount of pressure, as I found out! lol!

Query: What would you guys say is the lowest gsm cardstock you would recommend for building?

Well, I use 110lb, and that's plenty heavy, so I know you could go lower. You can also use photo paper for builds, or coverstock. Mel Ebbles sells 216gsm / 80lb coverstock, and highly reccomends it. So that is probably the optimum stuff to use.

That's over 385 gsm? I must be using fairly thin cardstock as mine's 220 gsm which roughtly translates to 58lb according to wikipedia.

80 lb cover is only 216 GSM.

I use 100 lb cover (which is 270 GSM).

LB to GSM conversion is crazy...GSM is the best way to compare all papers together as there are other factors that go into the calculation for LB (paper type, size, etc.). It is nuts.

Hmmm, the Bostik Edge looks like it may be Jiangsu Xingda Triangle Glue repackaged (the only reason that I know this is that I have some right here that I bought cheap at Marden's - a local remainder shop - amusingly, perhaps, the ones I picked up have a wrapper indicating that they too were intended to be relabeled). Let me Google a moment....

Hmmm, looks like the places that have it under that name intend it to be sold in LARGE quantity (multiple thousands - $580 US for 2000...). Notquite what I was looking for, but here is another triangular glue product by, I think, the same company. The one I have looks more like the one you have than these though, straighter and longer than these.

And I think my hair went whiter doing my search... why the heck would strap ons be on the same page as glue sticks? Or do I really, really, not want to know?

As to paper I use (takes a big gulp) Kodak Gold aka Ultra premium. I use a Kodak printer and use the paper for my Photography. Tryed card but the printer doesn't like it. FYI Kodak Ultra primium is nearly 75p per sheet not not for the tight of pocket.
