Ok For YONKS I have been thinking about building a Maiden as a Star Wars Sail Barge type ship, The idea first entered my head back on 03-03-2007 it has drifted around in my head for 4 years now never seeing the light of day.

Back in Jan when I was working on a Maiden for a player I printed out a number of bits with the idea of Finally doing the Sail Barge style ship, but the parts sat there unused as I needed to churn out Titan and Titan 2, or Mayhem or Necro block builds instead... I was pondering things and Tuesday as i was preping for last nights game, I dug out the stack of bits and started cutting and scoring...

Last night in my game it reached a critical point, I actually have a NEED for the sail barge.

Next week!

So last night as thunder and lightenning crashed around my home I powered up the printed and figured out the remaining things I need to make this work, and printed and printed...

one of the things I want for this I may not have, My FirstLight file is corrupted and I can't open the Rooms pdf to get the walls I wanted so I may have to go a slightly different way.

But I have a clear plan in my head and a stack of Cardstock waiting at home and one deck done from Tuesday.

I am eagerly waiting for pictures! You mean the type of barge like the one Jabba the hut has, when they take the guy to the desert execute him.... can't remember which movie...

And oddly the one I am building is also owned by a Hutt.

Do you have a Hutt miniature for it?

I can swing 3-4 different looking Hutts in fact (and will likely be using all of them).

The set up of the adventure is that the Empire is trying to formalize a treaty with the Hutts. The Players have decided (and rightly) that formal relations between the Hutts and the Empire would be Bad. So they have decided to crash the negotiations and try to wreck it...

So there has to be a location for them to crash at.

Yeah I sent an E-mail to them already but haven't heard back from them.

I am sure you will shortly....busy times and such.

And sounds like a brilliant excuse to build one

PC's Don't Read...

I was orignally planing on buidling it further down the line when I figured they would want to get the Hutt they stole a bunch of ships from off of thier back. But I think I will jsut role that into this and have Fate/the Force have it be the owner of the barge and so they can solve two problems at once.

This was planning to be three decks and I have worked out the bulk of how it will work and have constructed two of the three decks. The other all are the parts are ready to go so just need to put them together tonight.

With no thunderstorms on tne radar for tonight I should get more work done. It was hard to work in the dark for part of last night.

the only thing i am note 100% happy with is the middle deck the walls are all warped.

If I understand correctly, each deck is made of a lower level with maiden exterior and an upper level with first light walls, this upper level sloting into the lower level of upper desk, so that when assembled, first light walls are not visible ?

Update.

I plan on using this tonight (well I don't plan on it for tonight Ideally I would like to use it next week as I need to finish stating some of the occupants) but in case the PCs are on the ball tonight I made two sails for it and did a few other things (printed some stairs, reinforced a wall, fixed the messed up floor printed the engines, chose some props etc).

If all else fails it will have pictures of the Sail barge with... Gasp SAILS...

by the end of tonight.

Brilliant - Truly Brilliant

You could use the stems from those disposable plastic wine glasses for bases on the sail barge. Just an idea. This is a truely awesome build.

This is really awesome. My youngest (7) saw this and immediately ranked you as cooler than me.

That came out even better than I thought it would!...That really looks the business

mproteau and Zenguy thanks I guess floating around in my head for 3 years really made this come out decently. It wasn't really that much work to do it either. It is basically two maiden hulls flipped inside out. everything else was refinement on my part to make it look cooler but the main build is very simple...
