OK, so I finally got around to finishing my builds of three different versions of the Dancing Hut Of Baba Yaga. The large octagonal one is largely non-WWG. I'm still not sure I like the square one made from Shellendrak.

First off, let me say that I think it's really cool what you've done. I hadn't heard the name "Baba Yaga" in 20 years, and it all came racing back when I first saw your pictures.

Having said that, here's what the three models now say to me (from left to right):

"Baba Yaga's Aspen Retreat"
"Baba Yaga's Hut"
"Baba Yaga's Detached Garage"

I guess I like the middle one the most? Regardless of what I think - they're all really cool!

At first glance at those cool pics I thought, "OMG, did she have SISTERS?"

WOTC has released Baba Yaga as a pdf, and the Hut is on the list, but not out yet. Hopefuly later this week

It's over three years since I built my Baba Yaga huts. I recently saw that a WWG competitor has released a kit almost identical to my hexagonal one. I think the hex hut idea is too firmly entrenched in gamer mythology to do it any other way.

I'm happy someone is continuing to provide models. They've had seemingly good success with successive kickstarter campaigns.

I have to agree with oldschooldm. I think it's a great looking model, and it's free! I'd recommend it in a heartbeat. I'm working behind the scenes on ways to keep this place going (beyond kitbashing) and the last thing I want or need is for the limited community that continues to poke in here to be alienated for any reason.

On a similar note, I had plans to make a TLX-compatible Baba Yaga's Hut base, allowing you to slip a 3" tile into it. I might make it yet, but it's pretty low on my list. Right now I'm trying to organize all my great Okumarts minis, printing and cutting all of the sets I've made cutfiles for but never got around to making myself.

I really miss the creativity and innovation Denny (and the rest of the WWG crew) bought to the industry.

Baba Yaga and norse fantasy - now if that were a WWG set (or Lord Zsezse Works once they've got time from their Elven work), that would be truly awesome.

That hut design was a community request, derived from an existing building, and hasn't this hut been represented in print, paper, lead, web, and jewelry long before WWG was in business?

For myself, I've now stopped on this thread.

Easily one of the most enjoyable builds I've ever done.


I find it very difficult to recommend this site when it is the moderators who are starting the smack-talk. Badly done gentlemen. Try to set a better example.
