Building the test roofs for mproteau got the itch back in me to do more as it has been quite a while since I built anything. I recently moved and chucked a bunch of stuff that had warped in my basement or that was destroyed from being packed inappropriately. Some of it I tossed because the color variations were off due to using different printers and media.

My eldest son (7) was at my office the other day playing with some of the Bones minis I had so I asked him if he would like to build some terrain to use them on. He picked Castleworks Ultimate. We have completed our first tower and as much as I like TLX's versatility and modularity, CWU is awesome. I cannot wait to build more with him. He picked out the gatehouse to build next. I will build some walls as well, of course.

CWU is great. I hope some day to work more on my TLX conversion of the stuff!

Nice little tower there, joydyhee. But, I don't remember the horizontals fold-outs near the top being in the set (I'm in vacation right now - in Kenosha, WI for the Bristol Renn Faire -- and can't check my collection at the moment). Did you make that? ... and it would look so good with a small angled piece to complete the corners...

That is the "complex" tower topper. Everything you see is from CWU. I did cut the regular and trap doors open but other than that everything is by the book.

The only thing I did not add yet are flags and awnings. Also, I think balconies and windows are missing and would be a nice kitbaah which I may work on. The doors are set to open onto the tops of walls but I would like to have balcony options, both a small walkout and a wraparound.

Looks great. I have fond memories of my own CWU build from years ago. Unfortunately, I opted to store it in the shed and the winters in the UK are mighty cold and damp. It didn't end well

I threw out a bunch of stuff when I moved. No CWU, but earlier build stuff that was not color-matched (different printer), poorly cut by me, etc. I am starting over with this set, taking my time, really doing things by the book. I built a lot of stuff fast because I was playing with it back then. Nowadays, I build just for fun - and for my boys to enjoy it.

Every castle starts somewhere - and the tower is a good one.
