Here is the first element of my Mayhem city build: the Podtel pad.



The 12"x12" base (to accommodate the Podtel's 10" diameter) has four patio ground tiles from Mayhem #2: Apartments. The four benches (two are on the backside) are from the Urban Park Kitbash. The fencing is from the original Mayhem set - 2 lengths on each of 3 of the base sides; originally 7", I reduced them to 6/7 size to fit the 6" tile format. I wasn't too concerned with any odd height difference as it wasn't going to fit immediately next to anything else.

I am intending to make the Mayhem fairly modular. Mounted on a trifold presentation formcore (36"x48" unfolded), I'm going to glue down the street layout with scrub grass on the building footprints. All buildings will go on foamcore bases which will sit on these footprints. This way I can change around the general look of the city section. The permanent 'givens' are one side half of a wide asphalt boulevard at one 36" end (top), a standard 6" wide 2-lane street down the left side (for most builds I'm intending there will be an elevated rail line above this) at least one other side street and an alley. (I haven't had time to lay this down, but I've got the ground tiles printed. My brother's out-of-state funeral got in the way of this - yeah, some of that real life stuff...)

I'll post a shot of this later - and if my camera stops messing up (reason why the poor quality shot of the Podtel; it suddenly wants to not recognize the memory chip - have to work on that later).

I'm going to build a Parking Deck (more Kitbash!) a TLX Apartment and hopefully a department store. Eventually, there will be a second trifold board with a different street set up.

One other thing I am intending on doing is to make 3D sidewalks to raise them above the street level (for more "eye pop") and put them at the same level as the bulidings on their bases.

Now it's off to the Bristol Renaissance Faire for the weekend...

That is a very cool build. I've thought about doing something similar for the Two-Hour zombie war game so that I can transport it to run at conventions! Just have to motivate myself to start building!

Thank you for the trifold presentation board idea; I am in need of a 36x36 playing area, and I can happily use on of those with 6" on either side as a staging area.

I previously used a trifold as the masterboard base of water tiles for the Maiden of the High Seas (my "Dorothy Ann" build). I glued the tiles to the inside of the board, but found the cardstock tended to wrinkle at the creasefolds.

I am going to mount the Mayhem build on the outside of the presentation board - because of the planned 3D sidewalks. I'll be storing it, when folded, in one of the huge plastic bags the clerk had placed them in when originally bought in order to prevent damage to those sidewalks.
