Has anyone come up with a way to mass cut the base boards?

I'm thinking of making some TLX boards and using my terraclips for the buildings and other scenery

how do you all cut so many foam core boards?

Some 80s rock and a lot of alcohol.

Seriously, there have been a few efforts by folks on the forums here to find easier ways to cut the foamcore bases, but all had mixed results. One person tried a hot wire cutter that he rigged up. It cut, but left rather jagged edges, if I remember correctly. Another person rigged up a band saw or something like it. That, if I recall correctly, had issues, too. The only other idea that folks have suggested is making them with 3D printing, instead of foamcore, but as far as I know, that has only been speculation thus far.

So, almost everyone is just using a good utility knife/x-acto knife with replaceable blades 'cuz foamcore is REALLY hard on the blades.

Some people have also created wooden or metal templates as cutting guides. Haven't tried that myself.

I use the tools from While I am new to paper modeling these have helped to speed things up a bit. Google them, you will find cheaper prices. Now to get this darn Silhouette Cameo to work properly ...

Do you actually like using those Foamwerks tools? I bought a set of the blue ones on Amazon a few months ago and hated them so much, I returned them. That's the only time I've returned something to Amazon.

They took some getting used to but I find the handles give me a better grip. For cutting the small sections by hand I just use the old snap off type blade. Not sure if you got the bundle but I highly recommend using their straight edge, my cork backed metal one was not thick enough to keep the tools running true. Other than that I have not had an issue and my foam core angles are all at 45 and not somewhere around 70 ....

this is the one thing worrying me about taking on TLX

I already played around with making my own terraclips boards (Blank templates incoming)

but thought combining the two would look damn nice..

Ok, I'll admit that I only tried them on that cheap foamcore from Dollar Tree. Maybe that was part of the issue. I was hoping that they would help me to get a consistent 90 degree cut on foamcore, but that didn't work out in my tests.
