Truly awesome, Matt! I like how this set is packed full of goodies. I like the variety of structures, objectives, props -- even the small details like the flight stands. As soon as I get home, I be buying & downloading.

How big is the sphere, maybe it can be built around a styrofoam craft ball for strength?

Does this set include the "game" rules, or do I need Red Sector first?

Um.... seems that WWG's press agent should handle that.... or did I just anwer my own question....

It is funny to see the other main fantasy cardstock terrain company post news about their "latest" (08/18/2008) terrain product not hours after I posted about Battleground. Just goes to show that they are very scared of the WWG name, this also highlights the fact that WWG needs to get their products back out into the third party market once more...fast. (Yes Denny I know - Hour of the Day, one set of hands etc)
This makes me more keen to make sure that WWG gets the hype it should - Denny just ask Paul about what was discussed to this end.

I have just spent a night going through matt's latest set - Fantastic! Now it is not until you really really get into the set that you start to see how this set comes to life.
Take the tiles to start with - normal floor plating tiles for the first part then Wham! you find yourself looking down into a series of corridors from abaove - Matt has given a series of tiles that have L, T, straights and cross ways all from the top looking down. The mind starts to boggling at the layouts that may be played - you have a true 3D enviroment as the Platforms and walkways bring the game play up above the tabletop (this is the norm for a PCON build) but the very clever part is the tiles that have these tech ravines (looking down flights of buildings/structure) allowing to shape the tabletop even more.

Looking at these clever 2D tiles and thinking Mayhem/Fantasy it could be adapted to protray a tabletop of rooftops - be it fantasy town at night or a modern skyscape for high action jumping/flying across the building scape.

I don't Sci-Fi much but PCON BattleGrounds convays an almost complete sense of level shifts using the 2D & 3D techniques that makes me want to break out some Sci-Fi rules and figures and go get some.

As far as an expasion to this set I would like to see a cross over from the first set's pipes to this set's tech ravines - allowing you to running the pipes from the ground level down into the ravines.


Now I have to say that just form the promo shots you don't really get the depth to this set which is a real shame. I guess, form my point of view that what detracts from the promo is the fact that there is a general lack of small props. This set is the third set so if you have the other two you should a good number of props. I have not touched on the Vehicles mainly due to the fact I haven't a need for them but I know that they are when I do.

Are the FirstLight & PCON Walls of the same height? I was hoping to use the BG "T" and corner wall pockets with FL walls.

No. FL walls= 2" PC walls= 3"

I LOVE the explosions. Amazing. They add so much to the visual enjoyment of skirmish games I am going to give more characters grenades JUST so I can use them.
I'm thinking of bashing the mechs too to reflect a few other campaigns I have been working on.. hmmm...
Overall very nice stuff.

OTOH, I just love the PCON sets more & more. BG has all kinds of goodness in it -- the wall pockets, cool props and more mechs to fight. Excellent job!

Matt, I sure hope you have some more PCON ideas to produce. I would really like to see more wall types and door types. Just wishing...

EDIT2: Matt, how about Celestus Pravatis wall height?. Is that 3"?

All of the PCON stuff is easy to rescale to 2" high

Ok where was I when this came out? I just picked it up and it looks great! I'm planning on a big industrial center on Mars for my 40k games. This will work out wonderfully.
