I'm getting back into doing card modeling and Thoumont's caught my eye. I'm planning on running Paizo's Council of Thieves adventure path and want some terrific terrain to go with it.

Modifications:

I'm also working on the TLinX Streets tiles, so I want to make Thoumonts properly integrated. I started with printing out 4 of the 6" TLinX templates and mounted them on my base, effectively making one huge "super tile". I needed to shift the mounting of the building from where it is on the template. That won't be an issue, as I'm having to kitbash the surrounding tiles anyways.

Ground Floor:

The ground floor has been pretty much standard, with the following deviations.

First, I shifted the building template to work around the TLinX notches. No big deal. Second, I glued a piece of foamcore cut to fit under the raised area. This really gives the floor a nice solid feel.

Walls:

To help make the walls straight and perpendicular, I borrowed some of my kids' Legos and made some corner forms. That [i]really[/] helped keep things square.

Continuing on...

I'm now printing the stuff out for the second level. I'm planning on using matteboard for the second story floor foundation. I'm nervous about even sandwitched cardstock being strong enough to support more than a couple metal miniatures without giving way.

Another option is to use foamcore, but that will require more kitbashing to cover the edges of the foamcore. If I go this route, I'll probably just print the floor and first floor ceiling details on label paper and not bother with glue.

Looking forward to reading more of this. Thoumonts is next on my build list after my Requiem build, which is taking forever to cut out.

Would it just slot into a TLinx build without the slots added to the base? I am after saving myself time and wondered if the adjoining TLinx tiles would hold it all together well enough.

The main reason for the kitbash with new tiles around the shop is that the textures are quite different. The streets textures is more herringbone (I think that's the right style) while the tiles for the shop is more cobblestone.

I've been working on Thoumont's myself, but suddenly ran into a snag. I'm working on the second story, and the "optional" interior walls are taller than the outer walls (2 1/4" vs 2"). Is this a weird artifact caused by my printer, or are these interior walls really taller? In the images in the instructions, they all look the same height.

Oh, thanks for the tip on putting foamcore under the elevated floor. I've also been using some duplo-blocks to hold the corners together, it really does make a nice difference.
