We should be finished with late beta and off to the races this coming week. A few things got in my way last week which slowed things down but I'm picking up steam and on the home stretch. Promos (as always) are taking the longest to finish up at this stage. In some ways I think I underestimated the scope of this setting, so showing how everything can work has been a challenge. Its so much more flexible than a simple canals expansion.

Oh and I killed far too much time trying to make a working lock. Yeah it slides up and down (awkwardly) but I'm still not happy with it. Not sure if I'll include that bit. I will absolutely include the non-working lock though.

So, enjoy those won bets for those of you betting I'd fudge loose promises You should see this and Matt's expansion out next week.

Would it be easier to do a working set of locks that open like twin doors? Most real world locks fall into that category, and most of those that don't do fall into the 'no longer works' category. (Folks have tried a whole bunch of methods over the years, but those that rely on a track and channel - whether going down or sideways - tend to jam up and break down. Which is why the ones I saw on the Erie are now dry....)

You can use the up-down lock for a flood race. (A channel that is opened connecting the canal to a river, opened to prevent damage during runoff from heavy rains and storms.) So the work would not be wasted, merely moved....

*EDIT* Ack! Bruenor's website is gone! And it has been almost a year since he last posted here. I guess the fall of Olley's Armies took him with them.

That I can second but what I am suggesting is said persons actually paint up some minis and send them off. Just get it done.

Bruenor I haven't seen in an age alas. I do have some figures painted by him - god they rock.
