Wow, this thread is still alive!

Sometimes terrbily off topic, but alive....

Inspired by the Streets of Mayhem...

I want cobble stone streets (preferably more than one)), a dirt road, a dirt road with wagon ruts and some grass growing in the middle, a grand boulevard, a back alley with sewage running down the center, ...

No sidewalks though. Sidewalks are *so* 18th century

Oh come on... just a few sidewalks? With chain railings?

The Auld Grump, yes, some sidewalks used to have railings...

On either side of the harbor, on high crests of stone stand the Himmelveil Harbor Lights, one reaches almost to the height of the Great Tower at the University, while the other is a broken stump, shattered in the same cataclysm that swallowed the sunken church.

Across from the pubs stands a smaller building, an establishment called Unger's Beers. Not a place that serves spirits, but rather makers of ginger beer and such sweet drinks, so gassy from the yeast that the bottles need to be wired tightly shut lest they send their corks shooting towards the ceiling.

The Auld Grump, if anybody wants an 18th century recipe for ginger beer I've got one...

How about an Outrider Post? Doubling for messengers and cartographers, it would house outriders who make their living by taking scroll cases full of letters from town to town. So it would have a few sparse bedrooms, a stable so messengers can change horses quickly, and offices for the cartographers who would keep detailed maps both for their business and to sell to others. It would be a good place for PCs to try to find out about locations of ruins or small villages since the messengers are quite well travelled.

Denny, we know you're going in a hundred different directions right now (especially with that #@!&$% Portuguese site), so as long as you agree to putting as much effort into Streets of Himmelveil as you're putting into SoUM, I'm sure we'll all be ecstatic when it's available!

Especially if it looks as good as SoUM does!

Oh, and will there be a literal "streets" release, like SoUM? Like a bunch of different floor tiles for various street types found in the different districts, with a few outdoor props (like the equivalent of SoUM's rail system and billboards)?

Not to start that whole debate up again over here, but I think it'd be a perfect way to start, since with Village Works, there's already buildings in your line up!

One more "Streets of Himmelveil" suggestion:

Switchbacks!

You know, a little road that zigzags up the side of a hill. Would be *very* useful to give a city a bit more relief. You could have some hills on top of which the city is built. Or the city could be built on the side of a mountain. Or you could have the switchbacks lead up to the city wall, or the castle on the hill. Great setting for a battle as well!

Implementation: I'd suggest to stick with a pretty tight swtchback, where the "uphill" side of the road is a vertical wall, the top of which doubles as a railing for the road above.
