Feature Request: Magical pixie that actually builds your layout for you.

Notes: The pixie's name is Totunka and he should live in the corner of my craft room. He doesn't require food and he should need the minimal amount of sleep. He must also be proficient in the brewing of fine ales.

Feature Request: The ability to set transparency by layer.

Notes : If I have "Up" transparancy when working on layer 1, I want to have "down" transparancy on layer 2 auto set when I swap.

Feature Request: Add an option to set a default playing area and grid size.

Feature Request: Add the ability to to drag tiles, walls, posts, etc, out of the left side direcly onto the main grid.

<B>Feature Request:</B> Give me a way to reorder tabs.
<B>Notes: </B>If I build a street layer and later want to go back and build a sewer, I don't want to put it on top of everything else, I want to move it down to the lowest layer.

<B>Feature Request:</B> Expand the markers to include letters
<B>Notes: </B> That would give the user the ability to mark where items would go on the map (For example Monsters or a special affect on the tile)

<B>Feature Request:</B>Add Props into this planner
<B>Notes: </B>Props always make the build come to life and sometimes take up as much build time as the build itself.

<B>Feature Request:</B> Let me select what wall/post/balcony/Ramps/Stairs I'm dropping so that the manifest lists the correct pages to print.

<i>Major Change type requests:</i>
<B>Feature Request:</B> Allow me to draw an area to be outlined in a selected color. Not only the whole tile.
<B>Notes: </B>If I want something to happen when people are on half of a tile only or in a small circle, (Like a sewer cover) let me outline just part of the tile.

<B>Feature Request:</B> Give me a 3D view of my build.
<B>Notes: </B>If I have a three tab layout, let me see what it will look like from the side. with all three layers shown as if I'm sitting next to the build on the table.

Feature Request: The ability to draw a rectangle around a set of tiles to multi-select them.


Feature Request: The ability to rotate multiple selected items at once.


Feature Request: Some way to (CTRL-CLICK?) NOT select tiles when you intend to click on a post or wall segment.


Feature Request: Fix the bounding box on stairs. When rotating them the rotate/delete dialog shifts, and can move out from under your mouse.


Feature Request: Timed auto-saves.

Just thought I'd say real quick that you can drag select by holding down shift while click-dragging the left mouse button. Also, it's not said in the help text as it was a last minute addition but 'Q' and 'R' rotate counter-clockwise and clockwise respectively.

Feature Request: Save transparency settings with the WWE file. I want to come back to a project how I left it.

I don't know where to post it and don't want to open a new one... I see several requests and some bugs... some of them seem that get fixed quite quick some of them I supose will take more work...so...the question :

- Will be a patch before a new version or will wait for the new version ? - I belive is too soon maybe to thing about that but consider that the way you handle the first "problems" will give the new users a bit of confidence in the tool (we the old one know for sure that you will deal right with it)

The best way to answer that deals with how extensive upgrades become over the long term. We won't post V2 until we have evaluated all requests and bug fixes to determined which are vital and which can wait. Thus far nothing about V1 is "broken", its more of an issue of getting the little kinks out. We'll probably patch it sooner than later but we would like to give people time to get their reports in.

Pretty much reiterating what Denny said: Right now I'm focusing more on squashing the bugs that are popping up than any new features. I'm going to give it a little bit before making the first patch available to allow users to post the bugs they encounter. So far I've taken care of the bugs that have been brought up and hopefully it will continue that way.

OK ! that's is a quick answer... and belive is the best one...go first for a patch and then we'll improve it... only as it seems that a few of them where minor bugs and solved at the moment wasn't quite sure if you will up the new version with that and download again or wait for a patch !

Feature Request: dragable tiles from stock

Notes: instead of clicking the tile, having it appear on my worksheet, and drfag it around, it would be handy if i could just drag it from the list, it feels much more natural to me since i keep trying it

Reorder tabs is a bug, without the software does not work correctly, IMHO.

There is one canal tile that does not have a mirror image but can easily be printed backwards. Is there a way to add it myself or would it be difficult to add a mirror image option to the program? The tile I'm talking about is the one where a cancel coming from one edge enters open water with the border between open water and land is at a diagonal. There maybe others, but I haven't look hard enough yet.

Overall, great app. I really am looking forward to more content in the future!!!

Feature Request: ctrl+drag tiles as a shortcut for copy, paste, and move the duplicate

Notes: I haven't made the dive yet, but this feature is pretty high on my wish list already. I'm used to ctrl+drag being "copy" a'la Google Sketchup, and based on the demo video it would save me a great deal of time and frustration if I didn't have to relearn what I have learned.

Select All (cntr + a)

Selection Box - press, drag, and release style.

Modifiable colors for the walls, railings, and possibly even the balconies and posts. It would be nice to color co-ordinate which walls are really bridges, etc. Though you can do this with the outlining it would be nice to have..

Feature Request: Text Labeling - the ability to make a box, fill it with text, then move the box to where it needs to be. (Map title, street names, building labels....)

Feature Request: An easier way to place walls - keep the selection for individual wall sections if you need to, but also include a click and drag method for drawing a wall, for when there is no shortage of wall sections.

Feature Request: Top down representations of doors and doorways - wood or metal textured rectangles instead of the funky looking door symbol that is currently present, and markers for the frames of open doorways.

Feature Request: A compass rose, or just a big arrow pointing towards an N that can be rotated.

Welcome. To be honest all I did was open my DMG (4th ed pg 112) and go down the map symbol list identifying everything that seemed relevent.

Feature Request: Let me Zoom into and out of my build so I can see Part or all of my build at one time.

"Feature" request: Within 5-10 years expand the notion of layout designer so that a group can seamlessly run a campaign either in person or on an expanded java suite that acts as a virtual tabletop, is fully platform agnostic, and operates on a limited central server or allows pure peer-to-peer networking without the use of port forwarding.


As long as I'm at it...

"Feature" request: A 458 Italia with Rosso Corsa paint job, 20 inch forged sport rims, Nero colored brake calipers, painted Ferrari shields, front and rear parking sensor, AES lighting, Cuoio leather interior with matching stitching, and electric seating.


(... and send it to Puzzler Tower, Harvard Square, Cambridge etc etc)

I will add with greater seriousness that the first time I saw this and thought of the team's mad texturing skillz that the thought popped into my mind "man, wouldn't it be great it we could seamlessly change from in-person papercraft settings to online without losing our place in the adventure?"

Food for thought for the far far future.

Feature Request: Allow me to input my inventory of tiles/walls/rails/balconies and countdown how many are remaining as I drop them onto the map.

Notes: Though I am still gearing up to do a massive initial build, once I have a supply of Terrain linx pieces it would be awesome to input this list into the builder so when I go to crank out a map for game night I can use what I have, or tailor a map to use up my last few tiles or whatever.

Also if this could be tied in with the manifest, so if i build a map the manifest will reflect only tiles/walls that are not in my inventory so I know only the few new items that I need to build to go with what I have to make a given map. Also (as long as I am making demands) if it works to the point where if I download a map from the community and open it with the planner it compares the map to my inventory and then the manifest also shows what I have to build to complete the user contributed map.

BTW the whole terrain linx system is really freakin' sweat and the planner is really just like a huge cherry on top.

Also another vote for:

Select All (ctr-a)
Dragging items from stock right onto the map
Rearranging tabs
Adding text boxes to the map

Along with selelct-all, a way to unselect everything would be nice. When I have a large build (or a small screen) I don't have a lot of blank space to click-on, in easy reach, to clear the selection. So maybe Esc should unselect everything for you.

Also, if the tabs would remember where I was as I switched tabs, would be nice.

Its interesting watching feature requests pile up. You guys have no idea just how close many of these were to being in V1. We had a cut off point though so that we could get something to market. We could have easily developed it for another 5 months.

It will be great fun to bring some of these things to light

Aye, that is a good point. I'm a code monkey by day, so I really do get it. Please take the feature requests that are piling up as a sign of a wonderful application. No one would bother making suggestions if it wasn't worth using in the first place. Also, I have been working with Java for almost a decade and other languages before that and I have to say that for an initial release this software is pretty darn solid. It is refreshing to buy something and have it work and have it not be a "paid beta". So for that and more, thank you!

OK, nice guy off, back to ranting for more features .

Feature Request: We need to be able to zoom-in and out on the canvas, to make precisely placing objects easier.

Notes: I'm using a 27" monitor at 2650x1440. At that resolution, the 2-way posts are positively TINY. Zooming in would make things a LOT easier.

Feature Request: Automatically zoom-to-fit the playing surface inside the window.

Notes: If I specify a 3'0" x 1'6" playing surface, I'd like to be able to have it auto-zoom to fit that to window dimensions.

This tool is brilliant, absolutely brilliant. I'm loving it!

Feature Request: A means of customizing colors for walls, railings, and balconies - more useful for the Planner being used for mapping than as the planner itself. Perhaps coloring by outline and fill colors - Canals might be grey and blue, streets light grey and dark grey, sewers grey and brown, an outdoor set might use green outlines with a color fill depending on set.

Observation: Until the program can distinguish between walls, posts, balconies, and railings from various sets keeping track of their numbers is less than useful.

Feature Request: Having walls automatically end in posts would be more convenient than placing fifty gazillion finicky little posts of six different types?. Placing the posts seems more trouble than it is worth, at this point.

The Auld Grump, last night I placed a whole bunch of them on the map, today I just skipped that step completely.

*EDIT* In spite of my grumbling, I really do like the program, I'm just greedy, eh?

Suggestion to consolidate feature requests:
All of the requests to add whatever symbol would be greatly simplified if you allowed placement of any PNG within the editor, or have an import function for custom symbols.

You're NEVER going to have a comprehensive enough library that there won't be something missing for somebody. By all means, expand the library that ships with the product, but this would be a great feature for all those "one-off" symbols.

Feature Request:
The ability to put down a bottom layer that contains an image file.

If I'm trying to develop a layout for an existing map/dungeon it'd be useful to have a layer that I can set to be that dungeon and do my build on top of it.
