How big is the maiden? I'd like to build a ship, but I'm thinking I want it bigger than what the maiden looks like. I'm thinking 10 inches wide on the top deck, for example.

If it is smaller (it looks like it might be about 6 inches), how hard would it be to make it bigger, do you think?

I'm probably short of medium in my skills with cardboard....but great with foam.

Lighthouse? I'm looking at the images on the product page, and not sure what you're referring to.



Are you talking about the cabin in the rear deck? I would suspect if you made the base and primary deck wider, you could simply widen the gutter around the upper decks, and leave them the same size (before fore and aft).

That said, when I did my two-master Maiden, I left off the forward upper deck, and (with a little tweaking) it looks just fine.

Found a nice patch on one of the pages that matched up nicely, and now I don't need to put the lighthouse on if I don't want to....

Now that I have a color laser printer, after I get done with my current TLinx fit, I was thinking about another Maiden, and I like the idea of a wider one. So I'm _very_ interested in what you do.

Slightly deviating from topic... Has anyone built a smaller scale Maiden? I would like to do one that is about 6" long.

6" sounds really fiddly. I can't imagine doing some of the parts that small.

My wife began the trimming of the front process while I was at work yesterday. I finished. The front deck now fits (I lost about 1/2 an inch at the front - no biggy).

btw, do people want these updates?

I also got about 2/3 of the back building on yesterday, but I forgot to cut out the windows (d'oh!). Oh well, it still looks very, very nice (and while it isn't perfectly square, the number and placement of the tabs in the design really helps square up the stair area nicely - well done Denny).
